So what will you do if this happens? Watch CBS tournament over the internet?
Re: Directv to lose CBS, Fox in eastern Iowa March 1st
Don't they have to give you an out of market CBS and Fox if they lost the local station...
DirecTV does have CBS West CBS East and FOX West and FOX East I believe..

Not sure on that, I have not had Directv when they lost a local station before so maybe someone else can chime in.
When I was on mediacom we were not able to get a substitute station thought
Re: Directv to lose CBS, Fox in eastern Iowa March 1st
Get one of these and an antenna, you will miss nothing. Local OTA will show up in your guide and you can record them too.
OPEN BOX ITEM - DIRECTV AM21 Off-Air Dual Tuner for the HR21 (AM21) from Solid Signal
If anyone needs help or advice on how to do this, pm me. I've helped two friends set these up in the last week.

I'm pretty sure the FCC doesnt allow it, which is awful. The whole retransmission consent thing of recent years has been a mess. TV stations demanding money from cable cos, yet without the cable cos those stations lose most of their audience.
Re: Directv to lose CBS, Fox in eastern Iowa March 1st
It all the Sinclair stations, which would include Fox 17 here in Des Moines.
As usual, this will go down to the final hour and a resolution will be made. Both sides always pit customers against the other party to try and gain leverage. Its honestly comical anymore.

It's more the whole system than just a retransmission consent thing.
Why should the AMCs/Disney's of the world be able to do the exact same thing, but not ownership groups of network affilitates?
It sucks all the way around though.

Yes, the timing is not coincidental.

I was looking at this one here:
For only $16.46 each when QTY 50+ purchased - HDTV Indoor / Outdoor Antenna

Well, in the case of say.. AMC, they have the content, and theyre the only ones that have that content. So there's no option to buy up an alternate AMC or ESPN, etc. (Though it still sucks, and is a joke when AMC tells people 'dish is going to take away your AMC.... no, amc, youre demanding Dish pay more, and thus causing people's bills to go up)
In the case of a local affiliate, if say WHO or KCCI wanted to demand a higher fee, a company like mediacom should have the option to decide to instead pipe in a station from another market if that station has a lower rate. Customers might lose local news from this, but would get to keep the network programming that most really care about.

Yup. No coincidence this always happens right around super bowl or march madness.

I'm assuming most people won't want to go out in the cold and install an antenna, in which case I would say look at reviews and get the best indoor antenna you can get. 2 and 28 tend to come in real strong so a powered indoor antenna should work fine. 7 and 9 will be hit or miss with an indoor antenna.
EDIT: I didn't notice till now we were talking about the same antenna! Yes, I'm real happy with it.
