Star Brewery/Restaurant in Dubuque Closed
Another Business Visited by Obama Closes | The Weekly Standard
Too bad. That place was not too bad. Dubuque Star Brewery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On March 23, 2006 it was announced that Stone Cliff Winery had signed an agreement with Port of Dubuque LLC to lease part of the brewery. This lease was contingent on the city and Port of Dubuque signing a development deal. Under the lease, Stone Cliff Winery leased 10,000 feet of the ground floor for an expanded winery and tasting center - which they opened in the summer of 2007. The Dubuque Star brewing company is owned and operated by Jeffery Monroe in Iowa City, Iowa.

Do you know why I put up with this 'pitiful job', Mr. Donaghy, why I fetch these folks' lunches and clean up their barfs? Cause they make television. And more then jazz, or musical theater, or morbid obesity, television is the true American artform. -

So stupid that the tagline for the article reads like it does. I'm sure the only reason it closed was because President Obama visited. As someone who was at the Star as recently as this summer, it may have been due to the terrible food or inattentive wait-staff.

is that terrible brewery in Ames still open over by Whiskey River? That place was so bad.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come. -

In before the banishment to the cave.
Oh, BTW, Dubuque Star was still brewed back when I was alive and on earth for the first time as a young man. It was AWFUL. Picketts who followed them at the same facility did brew some decent beer.

Olde Main's stout might be the worst beer I've ever drank.

Re: Star Brewery/Restaurant in Dubuque Closed
My wife and I went to Dubuque and galena last spring. Tried to eat at star brewery on A last moment whim but was turned away from a lack of reservation and a 2 hour wait. Didn't deem like they were doing too bad then.

I was at Iowa State when it opened, and they had bad beer at the roll out, but it got significantly better. It's definitely aimed at those who prefer craft brew. If your idea of a good beer is Bud Light, than yeah, it's definitely not for you. Originally Posted by thatguy I think so. It can't possibly still be open right? Ames has a Chipotle now! I'm pretty sure it's still open. Chipotle is all right, but I still like Flying/Fighting Burrito.
