Actually, this got me thinking, so I did a little research. From what I've read, even the 80 GB model of the PS3 has backward compatability issues. Not all games will play, and there can be graphical problems with the ones that do. But, the 40GB model won't play them at all, so I guess that's something.
Combine this issue with the lack of USB ports, inability to play SACD's, and no flash memory slots, and it seems that some internet message boards have intelligently christened the 40GB model with the nickname of "The Sony Tardbox." That's damn clever. I'll bet these guys like Jim Varney movies.
hmm, maybe the 360 is the way to go.
From reading all this it seems like XBox is the way to go. Is guitar hero available on both PS3 and XBox?
I've been trying to decide between the 360 and ps3, so this thread was helpful.
I mostly play sports games, so there probably isn't much a difference between the two systems. I've liked playing online computer games in the past, so I think xbox live would be cool with halo 3, etc. On the other hand, I would like to play madden online with my brother who has a ps3, however I doubt we would get the opportunity very often since we both have kids.
I don't really care about bluray vs. hd-dvd, so that part doesn't matter. Don't care about wireless, I'll be using ethernet cable to go to my router. It doesn't need to be backwards compatible.
I suppose I'd be getting the 360 mostly for xbox live, and the ps3 because that's what my brother has. Hmm...........
if you have an hd you cant deny the ps3, unbeatable. as far as xbox live goes, you can buy a wireless router and play online ps3 for free so i think ps3 has an advantage there also. plus, the ps3 controller just feels better in your hand
Well now I own both, but I have to return one.
Does anyone play COD4 online on PS3? Are there a decent number of people online to play with, or is it difficult to find a game? THanks
Not sure about the PS3 controllers. I tend to cramp up much more with them. IMO the 360 controller is the best ever made. As for online I"m not sure anything is better than LIVE.
I was a Sony guy until the 360 came out, now I'll never look back. I'm usually a sports game guy but got Oblivion awhile ago and just got Ace Combat 6 and Lego Star Wars for Christmas (yes, I said Christmas...We're a Santa house:))
Ace Combat looks like you're watching a movie.
Maybe the online marketplace isn't as good as it could be but I think it's pretty solid, I download a lot of demos and enjoy that a lot.
I'm sure the 360 is pretty sweet (I've only played a few games on it) but my buddies and I agree that the PS3 rocks and another thing that's great is that they're very reliable. I know of four separte 360's that have been sent back in the last 6 months (friends/relatives that have the system).
I really liked the demo for Ace Combat6 - how's the rest of the game?
personally, i can't stand playstation controllers...the reg xbox one sucked, but the 360 controller is soo nice.
imo - 360 is the best followed by wii and ps3 is last. sorry, but microsoft was catching up to sony and nintendo who had been at console gaming for years and they finally surpassed them. I love my 360!
I prefer SNES.
