Framing - jersey

We bought a throw-back game worn jersey, pants, helmet on one of the ISU auctions. Now, I would like to get the jersey in a frame or shadow box of some kind. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you have pics of what you have done, that would be great too! The more ideas the better.

Right, but, I want suggestions from people who have bought something and have one at home that are on here. With pics from what they have done.

You can google a lot of things that people have on here, but it is not the same.

Thanks for the thought though.

Edit: Plus, somone might know of somewhere in town that does an outstanding job.

If you haven't gotten your shadowbox yet: I know Hobby Lobby used to carry a bunch of them. I don't remember what the selection was like, but you could always check it out. Michaels has a couple also, but not a very large selection.

All of those sites do have photos and some have reviews from people that have bought their display cases.

I know because I was looking at some a month or so ago.

As CyGal stated, both Hobby Lobby and Michaels do good work...yet I think I could get it cheaper online.

Acrylic and Glass cases are amazingly expensive. When I got the Meyer/McCarney signed helmet, it was around $50 for the cheapest display case I could find. Now I'm looking for a case for the Chizik signed retro helmet and I'm not spending that much again if I can help it. I'll be sure to post if I find any good deals that also look like quality products.

Try Ebay...that was another place I looked and found some very nice options.

Thanks for your help. I know people on here can be really creative, so helpful suggestions or examples of their work are great to have.

I've look at Hobby Lobby and Michaels for this type of thing and you can definitely get something nice there but be willing to pay out the nose for it...especially if you get it custom made.

I ended up finding something in the store that I liked and then just going online and ordering something very similar. I do this with a lot of things (for some reason I need to see it in person to ensure that I like it) and it saves me a lot of money.

We had a shirt framed at Walnut Street Gallery, here in Ankeny. It was several years ago, and I can't remember how much it was. I'll come back and post a pic in a bit, if I can figure out how to do that.

We've had pictures framed at Michaels. They do a nice job. But it can expensive when you add a mat and stuff. So make sure you clip the coupon from their ad in the Sunday paper. It's usually like 40 or 50% off frames.

I have a few framed jerseys that I did myself. I just went and bought the biggest frame I could find and a mat at Hobby Lobby. I stapled the jersey to the mat on the inside then buttoned it up and put it together. On some I went and got a little bronze plate engraved with some info and glued that under it.

I'll try and get some up later today. I also did a bunch of jerseys for friends that I flipped the frame sideways and framed them that way. It seems to work real well for the replica football jerseys since they are so wide.

You can have them custom made but they have premade ones specifically for jerseys at stores like hobby lobby in the back by the large frames. They aren't quite as nice but cost a FRACTION of the price of a custom job.
