He grew up in Peoria, Illinois. I lived there for a few years and learned he wrote "Same Old Lang Syne" after an encounter with an old flame he ran into in the Kroger grocery store there. His dad was the band director at a school there, hence the "Leader of the Band" song.
RIP, indeed.
Forever trying to find a cure for the Dunning-Kruger Effect.
I grew up listening to him. Seems like my mom always had him playing on the radio or cassette. Really takes me back to hear him.
There was a lot of crappy music around that time, he was very underated, maybe Jon Miller could talk about good 80's music, like Dan F. on his sportstalk show when he does talk music. Although id prefer none at all. No offense Jon, LTS, but not a big fan of listening to people talk about old music.
The only thing I really know about Dan Fogelberg is Denis Leary's opinion of him on the "No Cure For Cancer" CD - all I can say is it's not really appropriate for a tribute thread (if you remember Leary's CD, think about what he wants to sue him for...)
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
