Unless you get the black and gold version, then it works the same way only exact opposite. Definitely a lose-lose in that case.

I had a buddy who just kept his car registerred in his hometown so he could keep his plates. Don't know if that is legal, but that is what he did for a while.

The wife and I didn't get each other anything, we just got the kid's gifts. We did get three little kids names off of the giving tree at the library in Grimes and spent $200 on them. Our boy's felt good about doing something for someone not as fortunate as us, even though it was our money they were spending .

I just wish they were a little more distinctive between the three. White plates with a huge I-State would be sweet!

Define legal! Lots of snowbirds do it because rates up north are often cheaper than down south or over in Cali. Unfortunately, however, the great state of Nebraska derives a whole lot more income from plates than does Iowa and it irks them when people license things over the river. Police over here will actually look in parking lots at apartments for residents who might be trying to keep the cheaper Iowa plates. Sufficed to say it wasnt worth the trouble. That and I have no hometown address to maintain. Maybe I can start up an alternate home at 22's house?

I hate to admit this but here it goes,

I got a coach wallet, now I know you are jealous Brian. Let me tell you how excited I was. I don't understand the money spent on these things for a guy at least. I will go through this wallet within the next year. But oh well I think it made the wife happy to get it for me.

We also got a nice "House Divided" flag for our garage with the ISU/EIU logos. A bunch of other ISU related clothing/throws/pillows, and tons of clothes. Man I wish I was a kid again so many much cooler gifts.

I got the wife a North Face down vest and a COCO Mademoiselle perfume set and a few other stocking stuffers. I made her happy and that is what made me happy.

Edit- I feel better about the wallet now that I finally read through the thread and saw these things last a long time.

Hey all, new guy here. First post!

Thought I would add to the pile. My mother in law made my wife and me a stool for our "Cyclone bathroom" and I got a Sage Rosenfels Texans jersey. I was able to add it to my Ellis Hobbs and Seneca Wallace NFL jerseys.

They got it from an 80 year old lady that lives in Ill. That's what makes the gift pretty cool is that people around here won't have one like it.

-Various clothes including jeans, polos, long sleeve shirts
-$50 gift certificate to Home Depot
    -$50 cash
    -Madden 08 for PC

That reminds me....I also have one of those blankets, which was given to me several years ago by a girl I was seeing at the time. I took extra pride in that gift, since she was a Husker fan from Nebraska!

A Cyclone bathroom is awesome, as long as you have a Hawkeye target in the correct place

    For Cyclone-themed gifts:

Iowa State mailbox cover, a print of the punching bird logo in a nice frame, ISU hoodie, long sleeved shirt and t-shirt, an ISU cue ball, and an ISU pool cue (its freaking awesome).

    Non-ISU stuff: A Wii, PS2 wireless controller, various DVD's.
