    Re: Vacuum advice

Other plus is that you can install a vac pan so when sweeping you can just suck the dirt up instead of bending over with a dust pan.

Big con would have to be the price. Definitely not cheap.

    Re: Vacuum advice

I've been told it is officially time (little guy has perpetual sniffles) - so I am reviving this thread in case anyone else has more info to add. Anyone have a consumer reports subscri-ption and can post some vac info?

The other advice that seems to help is to tear out all your carpet... Yeah, that isnt going to happen!

Another vote for the Dyson here. From what I've heard you can but the cheaper model as there is no mechanical difference from top of the line to the bottom, just some extra add ons.

No, it has become more than a sport board, it a board for all clone fans to talk about what they want to talk about, and ask the advice of their peers. That is what sets this board apart from the others. There is more to life than just sports.

Except for game time, and then we lock all threads except for the in-game one.

    Re: Vacuum advice

ha, i did this research a while back. heres what i came up with....
Kenmore Progressive Upright Vacuum with Inteli-Clean System, Slate Blue - Model 3592 at Sears.com

consumer reports rated as #1 for the past few yrs. the dyson has actually had very poor reports in consumer reports.

we bought one of these kenmores a few yrs back and the wifey is very happy with it. (as happy as one can be with a vacuum)

The reason that Kirby's are so expensive and the salesmen are so pushy, is that they get to keep like 50% of everything they sell.

I have been told that the man that owns the Seven Flags fitness club - his name escapes me right now, the guy with the flying saucer house - made his first million by going door to door selling Kirbys. He then used that money to get into the fitness club business.

The Point? You ought to be able to find a vacuum of equal or better quality to a Kirby for around $600-700.

    Re: Vacuum advice

The next question is - are the bagged HEPA vacs only HEPA because they use HEPA bags? If so, why not just buy a HEPA bag and put it on my cheap vaccuum?

The guy with the saucer house is LaMar Keothe - hes an oddball...

    Infinity Air Purifier - Carrier

There are several Carrier dealers in Omaha. Bryant makes an equivalent under the Evolution product line.

    Re: Vacuum advice

I don't know what the reviews say, but I absolutely love my Dyson. Had it for five years or so and never had a problem (knock on wood). We were having problems picking up dog hair with our previous vacuum, short hair dogs that shed like crazy, no longer a problem with the Dyson.

There are some Dysons on clearance at the Target in Ankeny.

We've had ours for like 4 years and it works really well.
