I just went to Kinman auto glass a month ago, I think I got the name from this thread. But he was $100 cheaper to replace the windshield than 3 other places I called, one place was double his price. Its just a small shop on the north eaSt side of des moines. He was great to work with.

Re: Windshield repair
I used safelite to fill a chip in my windshield when insurance was paying for it. They came to my house and it was pretty slick. We recently needed a new windshield in a different car. It was going to be out of pocket. Called safelite and they were $100 more to come to your workplace. I took it to Scotty's in downtown DSM and it was a good price.

Re: Windshield repair
Most insurance companies fix windshield damage and cover it as part of your insurance if you have comprehensive insurance. I had a crack fixed on the recommendation of our insurance agent saying it wouldn't be noticeable. WRONG!!! I should have made them pay for the whole new windshield and took the chance of breaking the seal and getting a leak. That won't happen again when the insurance is paying, I'm getting a whole new windshield regardless.

I used Kryger Auto Glass in downtown Des Moines. Came out to my house, installed a new windshield in about 1 hour. Very prompt and courteous. High quality workmanship and it wasn't very expensive as I recall. Windshield and Auto Glass Repair | Kryger Glass
