Last week I watched the Brothers Solomon. It was pretty bad, but I did find myself laugh alot. I also watched Flags of Our Fathers, which I thought was slow. Didnt realize the picture of the soldiers raising the flag on that mountain top was so controversial. That battle had to be tough. I hope war like that never breaks out again.
Oh also watched Eastern Promises. I can only take so much graphic violence. Throat slitting and eye stabbings really make me gag.
For those readers out there, The Kite Runner is a great book and the next book by that author is very good, too. (A Thousand Splendid Suns)
The audio version of the book narrated by author Khaled Hosseini is stunningly terrific. Once you listen to a chapter, I guarantee that you will be hooked by the passion and emotion that he puts into his reading. It forces you to rearrange your schedule to find time to finish listening to it. I plan to see the movie, but I have held back thus far as I fully expect that even a well done movie will be a letdown from the audio version.
There are some very good movies out there right now. Some of the best films are given a limited release right before the end of the year so they are eligible for the Academy Awards and then released wide at a later date. The coen brother's flick, "No Country for Old Men" is suppose to be good. "There Will be Blood" with Daniel Day Lewis and directed by P.T. Anderson is also suppose to good. And then there is the Keira Knightley flick "Atonement" which won Best Picture at the Golden Globes and is directed by the same director who did "Pride and Prejudice" also with Keira Knightley.
The best film I've seen all year on DVD or in the Theaters has to be "The Last King of Scotland." Forest Whitaker was awesome in it.
