Wireless router advise

I have a LinkSys WRT54GS Wireless Router and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get connected to play games online. I have tried to set up a Static IP Address (also tried this on computers "hard-wired" into the router with ethernet cable), done all the port forwarding for the specific ports the game uses, shut off all firewalls, and still have had no luck at all. My service is through Qwest...do some of you "computer guys" have any other ideas? I'm beginning to wonder if it's just some sort of firewall set up outside of our house that isn't letting me connect directly with other computers/gaming websites. I had this problem at times when living in apartment complexes and thought I would be rid of it once I moved into a house where no one else shares the internet.

Thats crazy. There should be no reason to have issues playing games online. Hosting a game server may cause some issues, but going out shouldnt. What games are you trying to connect with/to.

Im going to have to be honest. As soon as I got a computer in my room in 9th grade, I was downloading picture of naked ladies. I plan to be on top of the internet connections in my house for my kids.

Make sure you forwarded all of the ports in your DSL modem also.

This may be the problem...I didn't do anything with the modem, however none of the places I went to online mentioned doing that either. I know the ports that need opened/forwarded from the game site, that's not the problem (it's Age of Empires II).
