Auto Body Shop help, PLEASE INPUT.
So I just had my first accident in the Des Moines/Urbandale area last night, it was not as bad as it should have been. But I am going to need body work on my rear passenger door.
Does anyone know of a good place to take your care that is somewhat reasonable but is still going to do a good job reparing it? Is there such a place down here? Any input is very much appreciated.

I take it this won't be a insurance job then?

I would HIGHLY recommend Pleasant Hill Auto Body. My wife got in an accident and they did the work for us. I thought they were reasonably priced and were really great to work with. Very good customer service.

Although, I've never had to have him do any work for me, other neighbors have and were very pleased.

No, insurance will be involved but I don't want to pay the whole deductible if I can help it.

I have had really good luck with Ankeny auto body, they are really nice guys, and always do a great job for a fair price. My wife had a streak a few years back where she would get hit by someone every 6 months, and we always went there, and always had a good experience.

I can also vouch for Ankeny Auto Body-a couple of buddies of mine from work went to high school with the owner-he does good work-tell him your situation and he might be able to work with you

I've only heard good things about them here in Altoona.

My brother in-law had a small dent fixed on his fender at Pleasant Hill A****ody and they painted all of his rock chips for him at no extra charge. He was quite surprised.

My father is an insurance agent in the DSM area and often reccomdends Central Body Shop. They have done some work on his car and they seemed pretty resonable.

The place Brian is talking about is called Smith's auto body, in Ankeny. Ask to talk to Gary.

Jacobsen Auto Body on Fuller Road in West Des Moines does great work. Plus the owner Clark is a huge cyclone fan. :-)

Re: Auto Body Shop help, PLEASE INPUT.
I'm a..... cough... cough.... field claims adjuster and I work with body shops around Des Moines. I definitely know the higher priced shops...
Pleasant Hill A/B is a good shop. Another highly recommended shop is Tony Moro A/B off of 2nd Avenue. They do really good work. Charles gabus Ford on Merle Hay is another good shop. The shops mentioned likely won't "gouge" you too bad.
I can certainly name some shops that will stick it to you as well....

Lack's Auto Body is very good and happens to be in Pleasant Hill as well.
