Help! Plumber Advice!
I'm pretty handy around the house, but we have a leak that I can't fix (bathroom fixture). Does anyone here have a plumber that they trust? Any advice would be appreciated!

Re: Help! Plumber Advice!
Rick Hibbs owns Handyman Matters and I will always call them from here on out to fix anything around the house.
They were extremely friendly, and the guy they sent actually showed me how to fix my problem (very easily) for not very much money at all. Since he didn't have to do anything, he didn't charge me anything.

What kind of leak? A dripping faucet? A leaking sink shut off valve? A rusted out, corroded drain pipe that is ruining the downstairs ceiling?

Can't help, but I have a funny plumber story to share.
When I moved back to DSM in 96, I bought a townhome and got the toilet in my bedroom clogged to the point I couldn't fix it.
I opened up the phone book, called the local Roto Rooter guy and he proceeded to use this tool that he wound down in my toilet to help push open the clog. When he brought the tool back out of the hole it had a mucky looking thing on the end of it.
I looked at him and said...what is that? He looked back at me and said "that there is a rubber!".
I cracked up. Needless to say...don't flush your condoms boys.

Mike from AMC plumbing did all the rough-in and finish work on our basement when we finished it. Did a great job and was reasonable on rates as well.

Wehad to bring in someone else to finish up and we paid a total of about $400 then we were quoted on the job.

Re: Help! Plumber Advice!
Last time I had to have a plumber come out it took me 3 different places before I could ever get one to either come out or do the work. One place I talked to whoever was answering the phones and both times were told someone would call me back and they never did, another guy I took part of the day off work to meet, he didn't show up then after I called and they sent someone out they just gave me an estimate and said he could do it sometime next week. Needless to say I was PO'd and went off about how I had taken work off because I was under the impression that my apointment was to actually have the work done! And I can't remember who I used for the place that actually came out on time and did the work in about 30 minutes of time. So if you find a good plumber in the Des Moines area be sure to remember because I'm not the only one I know that has had problems finding one!
