In the NFL...Simms is very good! He knows the game so well! Almost predicts it and is usually very close as to what he says is going to happen. And as a Steeler fan I never thought I would say this...but Aikman is very good as well!

I watch a lot of golf and David Feherety is my favorite announcer. He and Gary McCord are quite the pair.

Nice call on Gus Johnson. He is awesome during the NCAA BBall Tournament. I wish he did the Final 4, along with someone besides Billy Fudge Packer. The games would be twice as exciting!

I love the combo of Lundquist-Raftery. They did all of ISU's games when we went to the elite 8. it was great watching and listening to those guys. Simms is very good in football except he says JIM, referring to Jim Nantz, almost every time he says something. We counted 62 Jim's during the Pats-Jags playoff game.

I miss Hank, what a personality!!

I'm thinking a duo of Norm Stewart/Mac McCausland is hard to beat.

Nevermind that they are both color guys, it would be like watching a train wreck.

Joe Buck...he even gets me to watch a little baseball now and then.

But then again, he's not the color guy. ;)

    Steve Stone.

Even though Pat Hughes is technically the play by play guy he does a great job of picking up Ron Santo's slack.

Also, it's too bad more people don't watch cycling events on TV because Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen are an excellent broadcasting team.

LOL...I have heard Raftery say alacrity before, but I still don't know what that is supposed to mean. I'll have to look that one up.

Re: Who are your favorite color guys? (any sport)

Baseball - I have really started to appreciate Don Sutton more and more. He was just OK with the Braves but now on MASN I think he is getting a little more freedom and really shares alot of knowledge, also a big fan of Harold Reynolds, too bad he isn't doing the College World Series anymore.

Football - Chris Collingsworth hands down. Well, he's a former Gator that says it all, jk. He carries the NFL network games and has a great delivery. I have had a chance to meet him a number of times playing in his charity golf tournament and he is a great guy.

Golf - David Feherty and Johnny Miller. Feherty is hilarious. When he does a tournament you can watch even without any big name players. Miller is probably the best in ANY sport simply because he tells it like it is. For a while there were a number of players absolutely PO'd with him but since he is an equal opp basher I think they have gotten over it. I would love to see more color guys in all sports take his approach. Simms in the NFL is a little bit like him, but not much...

Other - Bud Collins (tennis) that guy is a nut!

Bill Walton is the epitome of competitive greatness. So is Arvydas Sabonis.

If I didn't like the other four you mentioned, I would have negative-repped you for mentioning Kirk "I need to pimp the Big Ten during each and every one of my comments" Herbstreit. Well, I really wouldn't have given you negative rep, but it's the thought that counts...

I love Bill Walton...he's such a drama queen.

Although he can get over critical at times, I like Johnny Miller doing golf. At least he's willing to take golfers to task for stupid decisions.

I still like Marv Albert. Back in the day, I really liked the Marv Albert/Paul McGuire combo for football. Paul was a little more on his game back in the day.

They also know that he's right most of the time and, unlike most announcers, could back up what he's saying with his play on the course.

Re: Who are your favorite color guys? (any sport)

Most of these have been mentioned but...

    Cubs: Steve Stone.
The Pat Hughes and Ron Santo pairing on the radio.

Football: Joe Buck, Aikman and Moose.

How can I forget the late/great Pete Taylor. You could always tell within a minute or 2 how we were doing. Or how well the other team was doing.

Golf: Ferhety. He is even funnier with his Tiger Woods '08 comments than he is on network TV.

    ---
Add: I forgot how enjoyable the pairing of Theisman and MacGuire in the Monday Night football booth was. Those 2 arguing like an old married couple through the whole game was hilarious because of how pettty it was.

I used to HATE Miller on TV but that was before I really knew much about his past. I remember when he tried to make his comeback, I followed him at Doral just to see what the big deal was and saw him hit one of the worst shots ever by a pro, an absolute shank off the tee. Anyhow, I would also recommend his book, I Call the Shots, very good quick read. I think you can get it at the Dollar Tree now.
