My wife is turning 30, HELP!
My wife will turn 30 soon and I need to plan some sort of party in the Des Moines area or figure something else out. Any ideas?

Take her out and get her drunk. But truthfully, i dont know, my wife will turn 30 this Sept. If it works out for you, let me know. I have enough trouble coming up with regular b-days.
Women always love a surprise party , or a night on the town with the girlz.

30...do anything and everything possible to make her forget she is turning 30. I guess that makes a party a moot point.

Take her to a big time theater experience at the Orpheum. Bring her to Omaha to see Phantom of the Opera for the next month. Eat at V Mertz in the Old Market. Stay overnbight at Embassy Suites. Treat her royal. She will remember. Just do not mention 30.

I went to a birthday party at InPlay in DM. There is a room there that has a miniature bowling alley that our group rented for the night. We all had a great time. We had a keg, pizza, etc. There is also a rock climbing wall nearby, video games, and a full bar.

If you do a party, it might be fun to get a whole bunch of pictures from her parents, the two of you, and any family/friends. Scan them and make a slide show or a little movie - the thought and time it takes will make her happy, as will the fact that you're communicating with so many people to do something special for her.

Re: My wife is turning 30, HELP!
Surprise party is the way to go. My wife was pregnant when she turned 30 so it was very unexciting. We went out etc, but really dont' remember much about it. However the next year when she wasn't pregnant I threw a belated 30th surprise party. I picked the place and the time and her girlfriends pretty much did all the inviting for me. I just told a coupel key ones and they did the rest. They gave me a final number and I made sure they had room at the bar. of course to this day everytime there's a celebration of any sort where I do a poor job with the fesitivities the belated 30th only proves to her that I'm no longer trying (even though I am) since when I did try it was a huge success.
Hope is not a method. Soon is not a time. -

It's been a long time since I've been down in the Old Market area. A couple of decades ago I would always go to Homer's to pick up some new music.
Turning 30 isn't that bad. I wish I was that young once again!

Call it the 10th anniversary of her 20th birthday. And keep saying that the whole night.

My wife turned 30 last weekend and we had some friends and family meet at Brewers in Ames. It turned out great. My sister-in-law planned it so i can't take all the credit. Nice atmosphere, non-smoking, quiet, but the alcohol prices were a little pricey for my tastes.

My wife's sister, with whom she's very close, lives in LA and we in DSM.
So for her 30th a few years back, I had her sister meet us for a long weekend in Vegas.
Worked pretty well. Got to see her sis and a trip out of the deal.

Re: My wife is turning 30, HELP!
We went to a pretty fun 30th a couple of weeks ago, it was a 'coincedental suprise' party. Everyone had a scheduled time to show up over the course of an hour or so at a specified bar and would just walk in like, 'what a concidence!' it was pretty fun... My 30th is Iowa v. Iowa state this year so the wife better come up with something good!
