3 fours, 1 seven, and a jack wins all.

Re: 5 of a kind vs. Royal Flush
I've never been a fan of wild cards. It's not real poker. But if you are using them, 5 of a kind beats a Royal Flush.

Re: 5 of a kind vs. Royal Flush
Well I am not sure how it would be done in a home game but at a casino on a poker machine. Royal flush with wilds pays more then 5 of a kind with wilds.
So I would say royal flush is better.

Re: 5 of a kind vs. Royal Flush
IMO: We always declare what is worth more before starting any poker game with any number of wilds.
usually it ends up like one of the two below: - Which ever suit has fewer wilds is the high hand (tie, split pot)
- 5 of a kind is only higher than a RF, if there is only 1 wild card. Basically a 4 of a kind then 1 wild.
If you get that straighted out before any game with a wild.. no one gets upset.

Meh, but in poker it's the best 5 card hand, so I would say if nothing was stated before you start, then a 5 of a kind is better because statistically it is less likely to occur and in both hands you are using 5 cards.

Must not have been a bunch of engineers playing. I would have expected someone to break out the old HP calculator and try to figure out the odds of getting one versus the other to figure out who should win.

Re: 5 of a kind vs. Royal Flush
Generally when you play with wild cards, you can only use wild cards to improve your hand to a hand that could be acquired without them. In this example, your best hand would have been 4 Aces with a King kicker.
But, then again, the fact that you play with wild cards means that you can make the rules however you want.

Re: 5 of a kind vs. Royal Flush
What do you guys feel about a hand that uses a wild at the top end and an equal hand that uses the wild at the bottom end...
For instance, a Royal Straight- If one person uses the wild on the 10 and the other uses it on the Ace, who do you say the winner is, the person who actually has the Ace and doesn't have to use a wild to make it? or just split pot?

I HATE it when other people play games and make up 5 different crazy rules that only the dealer will remember. My brother does that a lot and I usually just tell him to blind me out til it's someone else's deal. I agree with htown, I like regular poker (holdem & omaha 8 especially), a lot more then dealer's choice, but that's all most of my card playing buddies want to play.
