If you have any comments on the pools that would be helpfull too, our wives are dying to know...

Re: New Vegas Trip
We stayed at Excalibur. They just redid their pool and it is very nice. There are a decent amount of children playing though. The Excal./MGM/NYNY/Tropicana corner is my favorite on the strip. If you like cheaper gambling, Tropicana guarantees $5 blackjack tables. Excalibur will have cheaper gambling in the mornings. Hooters has an awesome dueling guitars and NYNY has dueling pianos. As far as shows, we saw Mystere and it is simply spectacular (it is on of the cirque du solei ones) we had amazing seats for only 60 bucks a pop. Other ones are much more expensive. Remember that stressed spelled backwards is desserts!

Re: New Vegas Trip
Luxor - IMO - too far at the end of the strip
Hooters - I wouldn't stay there, but would visit the casino/entertainment
Imperial Palace - I wouldn't stay there
Excalibur - too many kids
Paris - We liked staying at Paris
MGM Grand - I would stay here again, but make sure you know where your room will be and what "theme" it is
NYNY - ESPN Zone is fun, but never stayed there
Caesars - never stayed there
Tropicana - I wouldn't stay there
Treasure Island - we had a suite and it was our favorite hotel that we have stayed in
Monte Carlo - we like staying there and there is a good brew pub there that you have to get a giraffe at!
Anyone seen these shows?
Zumanity - It is a Circ show, so I don't think you could go wrong.
Dita Von Teese at Crazy Horse Paris
O - We saw O and it was FANTASTIC!

Re: New Vegas Trip
Caesars and MGM are the best of the group you listed. NYNY and Paris are ok. I'd avoid the rest.
There are quite a few better ones and they can actually be affordable at the right time of the year.

Re: New Vegas Trip
We also like that intersection with Excaliber/NYNY/MGM/Tropicana. We have stayed at the Excaliber twice. When we go we don't spend a hole lot of time in our hotel so it was adequate and the price was perfect. Depends on how much time you will be in your room and how much walking you are willing to do.
Also, my favorite show out there so far is The Blue Man Group.

Re: New Vegas Trip
We probably won't be in our room much but want to stay on the south end of the strip because of all the things we need to do in Henderson related to the wedding... The girls are really interested in seeing a burlesque (sp) show...

Re: New Vegas Trip
We saw Zumanity last year. It was quite bizarre. Good acrobatics but don't go if anyone in your group is easily embarrassed by nudity or lewd acts: girl on girl, guy on guy, orgy, erotic torture, etc..

Re: New Vegas Trip
I just got back from a trip. I stayed at the Imperial Dump. I would not advise it. I must not have lost enough last year because this was the only place Harrahs would comp my rooms. I spent quite a bit of time at Paris while I was there and would rate it highly. You must go to Napoleons Bar at night to see the dueling pianos. Paris is connected to Ballys which has a good tequila bar and good free entertainment every night in the indigo lounge. Bally's also has one of the better buffets IMO. Paris is located across the street from Belagio and Caesers Palace for the times that you are feeling wealthy. It is also within a ten minute walk from Bills Gamblin Hall, Osheas, Flamingo and Imperial Palace which have lower limit tables and looser slots. Stop by Margaritaville at Flamingo and have one. If you like Red Bull they make a geat Red Bull Margarita.I have stayed at about every hotel on the strip and Paris seems to have everything I want. They even have a good burger joint. The people at Paris told me they are going to tear down Ballys, Bills, Osheas, IP, and Harrahs and make a giant Casino/Condo/Hotel. I will mis them all.

Re: New Vegas Trip
Slightly off subject, but Allegiant Air is having problems filling a couple of flights to Vegas out of Des Moines. If you will leave on the 17th the flight out is currently only $9.00. Return flights that week are $69.
If only the grandparents weren't out of town I would be dropping off the kids and buying the tickets myself.
