I don't think that genes are all there is to it, but I believe they play a lot bigger role than some people would like to acknowledge. I'm at the other end of the spectrum where I could eat as much as I wanted to, live a totally sedentary lifestyle, and still be skinny.
However, all that said, when I lived in Australia I saw about 2 or 3 obese people a day and I lived in a city with millions of people.
Fact of the matter is... If you eat alot, you will get fat. No matter what type of genes you got. Amazing right?
hmm... my response to that study: Tell me something I don't already know.
Of course genetics determines how easy it is for a person to be obese. However, that does not mean they can't avoid it.
I blame it on eating poorly (understatement), job stress, and generally being a total head case.
However, I am working with a trainer and learning how to eat. (beyond open mouth insert food)
Yes, my mother has always been big, but I blame myself for my weight.
Dieting is simple. If it tastes good,.... spit it out. Amazing that it works!
As a comedian once said, "You are what you eat. You eat a lot of fat and greasy food, you become a fat and greasy dude..."
I'm on a meal plan right now, and honestly it isn't that bad. If you just make the decision and plan to stick to it, I honestly think anybody can do it. That said, I cheated on it for the first time in a month yesterday. Work brought in Pizza. Jerks.
I've found that fat people wear stretchy cotton more so than jeans... Why did they spell that with a G?
Just another thing to blame on someone else.
Its nice not be obese anymore (technically, I still feel obese sometimes) but according to the BMI I am just overweight.
I tend to obesity, though I beat my body hard enough in order to stay fit.
In fact, I'm pretty buff, if I say so myself.
At least the lazy and unmotivated have yet another excuse to be slobs...
