    Tax return fun

    So the wife and I always like to do something fun with our tax refund. This year, we picked up a new LCD HDTV for the basement. We found a good deal, and bought it on a whim last weekend, and it has sat all week awaiting the proper mounting, and antenna to come in the mail. Then I got the exciting news that the game is actually going to be on here in Minneapolis tomorrow, and it will be in HD on top of that!
    So, starting right now, I have 19 hours to get everything hooked up.
    Any tips on making the process a smooth one?

    Anyone else have big plans for your tax refund?

    Tax return is going to help pay down the car loan probably. That's saying that I get much of a return. I cashed out some government savings bonds that I have to claim the interest on plus some livestock sales (still have part ownernship in the family farm) so those 2 sources of income might significantly decrease the return I get compared to what I had last year.

    Mine will go to help pay for a donation to Iowa State, purchase ISU season football tickets and pay for the boat slip at Saylorville Marina. The rest will go into savings.

    We usually get pretty close to even with the way our withholdings are setup. I think we got a grand and a little more back last year but my wife's buisness had some one time big expenses.

    If I get a few extra bucks it will go towards wiping out the last $800 of my credit card debt (yay me!)

    We file jointly. I have them deduct at single no dependants because it is the max you can take out. I got a refund a year ago, but this year I am guaranteed to go back to paying them. What I am scared about is the AMT!
