Re: Any Good Valentine Gift Ideas??
Thanks for the advice, I hope she doesn't get me anything, BUT i don't want to be the dbag that shows up with nothing and she has a gift for me...

Re: Any Good Valentine Gift Ideas??
I got off the hook a little easier this year. Instead of going out I'm making dinner and I bought a reasonably priced flower boquet that I had delivered to her work. In the past we've gone out somewhere nice (usually means expensive too!) and gotten each other gifts. I'm sure she probably got me something though but it was her idea to eat in and get flowers this time so that took some pressure off of not feeling guilty when I get something better than she got me.

No seriously, don't get her anything, it is not worth the effort. having said that, I really hope my wife does not get me anything or I am dead!
Don't do it! My GF didn't appreciate it!

Hopefully she is one of those women who doesn't believe in Valentine's Day because it's a corporate monster.
Those women don't exist. If she says that she's lying. And if she's not lying she's probably a dude.

I have always sent my wife flowers to the office, one year, I thought I would suprise her at home with supper and flowers. She came home and was pretty hurt that she did not get them at the office. WTF she still got them, but she did not get them infront of her friends. The next year, I had a guy in a gorilla suit deliver them to her, just to embarass her

NICE!!! Exactly what we're doing. I'm doing a several course Italian meal, with some wine and she gets to watch Lost and no sports on the big screen tonight when it's actually on (no TiVO)... I sent an arrangement of flowers to her office as well, and got a card. Grand total = $85 (most of the groceries we already had, only about $10 there, $20 bottle of wine and a $3 card, then the flowers).

We are making dinner TOGETHER. We usually cook seperate and kick each other out of the kitchen. Tonight we are cooking a 3-4 course meal together. Flowers and Wine too.

The $100 you spend one time a year will be well worth the money. Been there - fell for that.
Every year, she says not to get her anything. Ha ha, fool me once - shame on you. Fool me twice.....

Re: Any Good Valentine Gift Ideas??
I just won a $50 gift cert to Kin Noodles in Altoona.... From the husband I got some chocolates. We don't really go all out for V-day. Our anniversary was just a month ago, so I would rather have a nice anniversary than a nice V-day.

More bad ideas: Any electronics that YOU might want. Any household items (vacuum, chair, lamp).
For three months, don't do jewelry. I've learned the jewelry lessons the hard way... The more you get them, the more they expect. With jewelry, there are levels in terms of price/quality. Once you go up a level, they will never let you go back down...

Re: Any Good Valentine Gift Ideas??
My opinion is to stay away from the cliche crap (flowers, chocolates, etc.). Do something for her that doesn't cost much but takes a little thought or effort. Make dinner, give her a massage, find a special place to have a box lunch, etc.. It means more and you don't have to spend the $$$ that everyone charges for this one day.

Re: Any Good Valentine Gift Ideas??
I fail to see the value in buying roses for V-day. They are hugely overpriced and die within a week. I tend to get other flowers. My wife doesnt really expect flowers and doesnt necessarily want them so I surprise her every once in awhile. VDay is a joke. Anyone who tells you differently has been duped. Its the other 364 days in the year that are important to remember your loved one.
