Hmm... I would have answered "no" to both those questions, but I get where your going.
And yes ISU is one of the best Vet Med colleges in the country, think Harvard of Vet Med because it's very hard to get into.

I think University of Florida has a better vet school and I know you love the Gators...

And being near your daughter while she goes to school is a nice bonus Kudos Jon for a good take on life....
But I am relishing the fact your daughter and son-in-law could be ISU grads .... imagine Thanksgiving dinner ....
-keep.
EDIT: it will be important to know what type of vet work she would want to do .... and then go to the best Midwest vet for that type. Mich. St has a really good program too. Family of mine have and do teach at KSU and MSU for Ag and Vet doctor programs. I won't go in to the side that teaches at at KU ....

If its anything like I was in elementary, it seemed like EVERYONE wanted to be a Vet, my bet it's a stage that passes.

Re: Does ISU have a good Vet school?
ISU is good, not the best, but really good. I think Cornell is ranked #1 at the moment.
Better have her start hitting the books now....any vet school is very difficult to get into.

Does Iowa City have a police force? And a jail?

Re: Does ISU have a good Vet school?
ISU was the first Vet school in the country. It was the best school around for a long time but fell from 1st to 16th out of around 20 vet schools in the country. Regents got ****** off and plugged a ton of money into the program and is currently doing construction. Just a matter of time before it is #1 again. To say the least, Vet Med is very hard.
Any degree in Agriculture from ISU automatically gives you a huge boost in the professional word. No better Ag school in the world. College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University

Re: Does ISU have a good Vet school?
My brother is in his fourth year of vet school at ISU. I will echo a lot of what others have already said. For many years, ISU was considered the number #1 vet school in the country for large animal teaching. Small animal is a fairly new concept (in the last 20-30 years). Recently, other universities (i.e. Colorado State, Texas A&M, Penn) have invested huge amounts of money into teaching hospitals and have moved into the forefront. Iowa State is in the process of a $30 million expansion for both their large animal and small animal departments. Trust me when I say this. It will be absolutely state of the art. My brother is just bummed that it is going to open up the year or two after he leaves! By the time your daugther is college aged, I have no doubts that the ISU vet program will again be top 5 in the country for both large animal and small animal.
