Proscan HDTV?

Ok, I read through the HDTV thread. So if this needs to be combined, no problems.

Anyways, I have been holding out on getting a new tv till one of these old 27" tv's die out. But, with my country needing me to spend the money they are sending my family, I have decided to look for a new TV.

So, here are the guidlelines as I see them.
-under $1000 (come on, I still have 2 27" tvs, I don't like
spending a ton of money here on these. One is a 10+
year old LXI)
-I think I want a 37-42 inch screen.
-I think I want it to be at least 1080i(quite honestly most
are either 720p or 1080p)

My main uses?
-xbox360
-Wii
-I have a direcTV HD tuner(got it for free when I moved)
so, I want to take advantage of the programming
when I turn that on.
-With that said, I like watching movies and sports
mainly.

So, I found this TV from salescircular at SEARS:

Sounds good to me.

But, before I go take a look and bring it home, any suggestions from the masses.

I think if you are only looking to spend in the $1000 range I would look for something closer to the 32" size and get a higher quality TV as opposed to getting the cheapest 42" you can get.
Or you could look for a LCD projection TV that you could get a larger one for in that price range

In general it has been found that most of the no-name HDTV's perform just as well as the names.
When you are looking at 37-42 inches, you don't need to worry about 1080p, because you will have to be sitting 2 feet from the screen to tell the difference.
I picked up a 37" Olevia at Kmart a couple weeks ago for $600, and it is fantastic. There are some great deals out there for TV's this size if you keep your eyes pealed.

Olevia is amazing.. I highly suggest it.. I have the 537H and caught a great deal at tigerdirect.com

I second the Olevia. I have bought 5-10 of these for customers and it is great. They have a 1080 model also. Check Compusa. They have great going out of business specials going on.

Bought my 42 inchToshiba on Tigerdirect. $999. Was rated Consumer Reports Best Buy. I love the T.V.

I'd recommend the Panasonic 42 inch plasma 720p TH-42PX75U. It's available from Amazon for $999.98 w/free shipping Check the great reviews.

This is a great TV at a great price Consumer Reports says so Best Buy has this model on sales also many times.

Vizio makes some quality sets as well.. if you don't get a name brand (samsung, , LG, toshiba, sony) then get an olevia or vizio.. just stay away from westinghouse, poloroid, magnavox, etc.

A vizio TV is a sony in a different box (usually)

and an Olevia is an LG in a different box (usually)
