Morgan Spurlock

I see that documentary film maker Morgan Spurlock has a new movie coming out about Osama Bin Laden. The following is a blurb about its premise:

"If Morgan Spurlock has learned anything from over 30 years of movie-watching, it’s that if the world needs saving, it’s best done by one lone man willing to face danger head on to take it down, action hero style. So, with no military experience, knowledge or expertise, he sets off to do what the CIA, FBI and countless bounty hunters have failed to do: find the world’s most wanted man. Why take on such a seemingly impossible mission? Simple-he wants to make the world safe for his soon to be born child. But before he finds Osama bin Laden, he first needs to learn where he came from, what makes him tick, and most importantly, what exactly created bin Laden to begin with. "

I thoroughly enjoyed his movie "Super Size Me". I feel he takes a pretty honest approach to both sides of an argument and reinforces that it is his opinion unlike Michael Moore. He also had a show not too far back where he tried to live in other people shoes which was actually kind of fun to watch. Anyone else enjoy his documentaries or have a favorite documentarist?

His show was called 30 days and I loved it. I also really enjoyed Super Size Me.

I love Spurlock's work. 30 Days is the series you speak of, and while a bit uneven, it was very good. He has a good way of tackling tough topics with humor and compassion.

Not sure that he'll find bin Laden, but it should be entertaining nonetheless.

I really like 30 days as well. Very good stuff. He is a great film/show maker and I look forward to seeing this.

I would love to see more by him. Super size me was great, and so was his show.

Am I getting old, that I love documentries now?

Well depends on what docs you watch and how many. I cant watch hour upon hour of the history channel docs, but I can watch the occasional fun one.

Another good doc is This Film is Not Yet Rated. A documentary about movie ratings...its definitely a good watch.

Has anybody seen the Donkey Kong one?

Both in my netflix queue. The King of Kong! =)

If you want an incredibly depressing but thoroughly interesting documentary, check out "The Bridge". It's about the people who commit suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. There's footage of them jumping, and they interview their families. Riveting.

Also, don't forget "The Heart of the Game". HS girl's bball doc that becomes a film about race, teen pregnancy, and perseverance. Bonus that ex-Clone Lindsey Wilson has a prominent part early in the movie.

So eating $30 worth of McDonalds a day (approximately what 3 adults would spend if they ate there for every meal) represents a 'normal' diet? That's being honest???

Super Size Me was the biggest waste of time. If you eat $30 of any type of junk food every day, you will die soon. Duh. Big deal. Need to make a movie out of it???

Super Size Me was designed to try to take down an individual corporation. I see no difference from the likes of Michael Moore.

Youre kidding yourself if you think thats why he did it. He even said in the movie that he realizes that this is example is in the extreme. He wasnt aiming at McDonalds to take them down. You and I must have watched different movies.

Care to answer why McDonalds was singled out in the movie? Why didn't he run through the Wendy's or KFC drive-thru??

Hell, why didn't he stop at Olive Garden where the calorie intake is twice what it is at McDonalds???

I'm sure he was just having fun making a movie...........
