Random Question
Do you consider Cheetos chips???? If not, what are they? I am having a debate with a friend of mine, just thought I would see what all you thought.

Re: Random Question
I'd say no. But I guess there is no real definition. I would say a cheeto is puffed corn. I would say a chip needs to be flat and have a "chipped" off of something appearance, hence the name "chip".

Re: Random Question
Cheetos are an extruded, cut, and fried product unlike chips which are sliced and fried.
Now if you throw Pringles into the mix (which are extruded, sliced, and fried) Cheetos would be in their category.

Re: Random Question
This is hilarious. So, if they aren't a chip, what are they? They aren't a cracker.

Re: Random Question
They're in the "Crinkly-Bags-That-You-Can't-Open-Quietly" Aisle.
I guess I've always just called them Cheetos.

Re: Random Question
I know Dictionary.com isn't the most accurate always, but I liked this one for chip:
8.something dried up or without flavor.
Here is the more relevant one:
2.a very thin slice or small piece of food, candy, etc.:

Re: Random Question
Per wikipedia:
Cheetos are a crunchy, cheese-flavored cornmeal snack made by Frito-Lay.
