I've used 3 different versions of FF on Vista with no issues.

Re: MS Vista
We pretty much killed our pilot of Vista at work for now. I'd be really concerned rolling it out to an environment of around 20,000 clients without really "dummying up" the interface to be as close to XP as possible. XP has been pretty stable and pretty user friendly for those who are not the most technical people. We range from people that are just out of college to people that were probably around when PCs first came out and still have problems with basic functions of them. I've tinkered with Vista on other people's machines but have not installed it on any of my own and as an IT guy I'm not impressed with it and like brianhos said M$ really messed up on this one. There are even stories out there of how some companies have gone to Vista and rolled back to XP even.

Smug, supercilious responses from Apple users not required. It's possible that it's actually IE7. There's an issue with the Phishing filter slowing down some sites. I'd look to see if you have this patch installed first: Download details: Update for Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP (KB928089)
Whoops - my bad, this is the XP link. There's a corresponding Vista link somewhere, i'll see if i can track it down.

Re: MS Vista
Where I work, we still use Windows 3.11, so it is much preferable to that!

Re: MS Vista
I heard that MS is going to stop (or at least cut way back) on support for XP this sumer in an effort to ge more acceptance of Vista. I've always beem supportive of MS but this may sway my opinion against them. I heard a lot of people say the can tolerate vist but there is no improvmenet over XP.

Ha ha, unfortunately there are alot of places that still do. A few years back the hospital I worked at had an app that only ran on windows 3.11. To switch it was a huge PITA.

I would really doubt that. They just quit support windows 98 about 4 years ago. To kill XP support would be suicide.

Re: MS Vista
I like Vista. I think it's one of those things where if you buy a machine specifically designed for Vista that is loaded with Vista from the beginning the problems are minimal. The only "issue" I have is if my computer goes into sleep mode and I wake it up by moving the mouse sometimes the pointer freezes on me, and then I have to send the computer back into sleep mode (using the Windows key) and then re-awake it by pressing the power button on the computer. I don't have that problem when I use the power button only. Needless to say, I don't wake my computer up by moving the mouse anymore - problem solved.
Not a huge upgrade from XP, but it certainly is pretty...
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -

Of course, we still have some people that haven't used any windows before this job, and that includes 3.11, so they don't know how either system works.

Re: MS Vista
Having Vista myself I have found that the system resources get eaten up when you surf the web. You actually need a pretty hefty video card and at least 2 GB of RAM. Vista is a combination of XP and OS X from Apple. I think the worst thing about Vista is its gaming performance. It has all kinds of compatability issues, but they are getting fixed. A lot of people are forgetting but when the beloved XP came out we had the same issues, and they got fixed with SP1 and SP2 so just give it some time. And all Windows users rejoice that we don't have to use Apples.

I have a crap video card in my laptop, and 2 GB of ram and it works just fine.
I don't game, though, so I don't really care about that.
