It sounds alarming, but they're not talking about AIDS. The vast majority is HPV, which is quite common in adults as well. In fact many of you probably have it without knowing it.

Another excellent point. I think I read someplace 1 in 3 people have it (which would contradict the 1 in 4, but I think the 1 in 3 was referring to those sexual active), most have no clue. Generally it's rather harmless.

Im glad Im past the dating phase. STD's are freaky. I hope my kids will be smart enough to use protection and common sense.

Its not just rebellion. Alot of it has to do with people that are insecure. Some will sleep with whomever as long as they get that sense of acceptance and love even if its not truly there.

This is a scary statistic...lucky my girlfriend and I only have one partner. Its sad because I am from a town (Iowa Falls) which has the highest rate of teen pregnancy in Iowa. Luckily I am out of that town without a little one coming with me I'm glad to say!!! The words of ISUFan22 can not be more true! "Preach abstinance and you lose them", that's all my high school did. Luckily my parents were a little more aware of what was going on and informed me of the situation.

I knew someone that exhibited that a lot more than most people... it's a really sad situation

She'd slept with more people than she was years old, and never used a condom. All I can say is I'm glad I didn't go after that

I have known these women too. Really nice girls with tons of potential but just didnt have the self-esteem. With alot of guys, sex is sex, but to a good portion of women, they expect more out of the sex. There are alot of guys who are willing to exploit that.

Not sure I fully agree with that assessment. Maybe the person just likes to have ___, doesn't mean they are insecure.

I think it's kind of odd how some people think that when you tell teenagers to abstain from sex, they won't listen, but when you tell them to practice safe sex, they'll magically obey.

I work with teenagers every week. We usually have donuts after Sunday School. I find that it's very easy to get them to pay attention, and clean up the room and such before we have donuts. But once they are into the donuts, it's pretty much a struggle to get them to do anything sensible until they've had their fill of donuts.

Just a thought...

I personally love walking into the UDCC on Wednesday for free condom Wednesday and seeing how ugly some of the people they have at the table are. Some people I've seen shouldn't need condoms...I didn't realize some people could get so desperate
