Maybe not that drastic but the Dow is up 415 points today. GOOG is back up 24 points as well!

The stock market's performance is a poor indicator of recession.

The dow is up because the Fed announced that they were adding liquidity to banks by lending $200 billion for a 28 day term instead of normal overnight loans, called Term Securities Lending Facility.

One good day in the market is not a clear indicator of a recession or lack thereof. Conversley, there are times in a very bullish market/economy that we see huge down days, that doesn't mean the economy is in a recession.

It's a short term move. In the medium term the Reserve is walking a fine line between a recession and inflation...oh the glory of stagflation!

The media has been telling me every day we are in a recession. I have not seen it yet, but I am positive that we are truly in a recession, because ahhhhh, that is all I hear.

Check out the jobs and homes market.
Oh yeah, oil prices... hmmm. Things are great. I wouldn't go spending all my pennies based on today.

I have donated $1,500 to my 401k this year and it's still at the same amount I started the year with. It's not real fun right now. I am sure it will spike pretty soon.
