Recession over before it begins

Maybe not that drastic but the Dow is up 415 points today. GOOG is back up 24 points as well!

The stock market's performance is a poor indicator of recession.

That's for sure......

The dow is up because the Fed announced that they were adding liquidity to banks by lending $200 billion for a 28 day term instead of normal overnight loans, called Term Securities Lending Facility.

Heard that on Fox news this morning. Not sure what exactly it means but that is supposed to be the reasoning behind the higher day.....

One good day in the market is not a clear indicator of a recession or lack thereof. Conversley, there are times in a very bullish market/economy that we see huge down days, that doesn't mean the economy is in a recession.

It's a short term move. In the medium term the Reserve is walking a fine line between a recession and inflation...oh the glory of stagflation!

The media has been telling me every day we are in a recession. I have not seen it yet, but I am positive that we are truly in a recession, because ahhhhh, that is all I hear.

CEPR - Private Sector Sheds Jobs for Third Consecutive Month

Various sectors of the economy are shedding jobs. Generally, that's not a sign of a growing economy.

Oh yeah, oil prices... hmmm. Things are great. I wouldn't go spending all my pennies based on today.

Re: Recession over before it begins

I have donated $1,500 to my 401k this year and it's still at the same amount I started the year with. It's not real fun right now. I am sure it will spike pretty soon.
