Hoping to shoot some of her subjects sometime for some really funky looks!
Can she be a pistol? =) I like the brunette.

Re: First photoshoot!
Does the brunette remind anyone else of Ellen Page(aka Juno)?

Re: First photoshoot!
I've seen examples of her body painting. Some very fun stuff. One of the girls that she paints on is my advisee. I also met one of her roomates once, she said there was glitter all over the apartment after one of her "sessions".

Is there any photographic evidence of this?

More nice work, 22!!
I'm trying to figure out how you get the backlight to reach under and in front of the models because I thought you had just one light with a gel pointed away from and behind the models..or did I misunderstand your setup??

Before
As you can see, the bottom of the backdrop is not lit well at all and is dirty from the shoes. I had to create another layer in Photoshop and mask out the model (or mask in the backdrop). I found a very handy plug-in that made this process much, much easier than doing it all manually. I then overlayd a gradient on the backdrop - using some different settings so I didn't completely cover it - as it would be obvious it was post-processed, look very flat, etc.
In this image, I not only fixed my problem, I bumped up the color quite a bit to give it more punch. :)

More good stuff, 22!! I am wondering if you are planning on shooting some outdoor landscapes and/or other scenery and then dropping your models in those photos. There is a studio photographer on POTN that does that and really has some cool shots.
Also, with the Corvette, are you going to use artificial lighting??
Anyway, keep up the good work, you have an endless amount of different things to try.
P.S. I know what you mean about hours in a day!!

I may do some of the post-processing involving putting people in various landscape backgrounds - that takes a ton of practice though. Right now I need to focus my time on vastly improving my photography skills and then I'll pick up more post-processing skills and techniques.
I do plan to take a light or two with me for the corvette shoot next Friday morning. I'll give the shots a little edge. :) I'll use 'em for some and not for others. Finally got a model lined up to shoot with it too - she has a punk look to her, so the shoot should be fun.
I hope the weather holds up. Later next week the forecast is cooler and has rain. Ick.

I hope the weather holds up. Later next week the forecast is cooler and has rain. Ick. In my experience with exterior photo shoots with models the photographer always hopes for some cloud cover for the shoot because it's easier to control the light with mirror boards and bead board to get the look they want. I've been on shoots where they'll put up 20x20 silks just to diffuse the sunlight and then bounce light in to give them edge. I've also been on shoots where they wait for the sun to set or rise to give them the good light. There's nothing worse than standing around waiting for the sun to go down.
As far as your post work, a few of the shoots I've been on they've just used white backdrops or sykes and shoot the models in various poses and add in the color later. I don't know the reason for this but I assume it's because they don't want the color reflecting on their skin or clothes. I'll see if I can post some photos of before and after shots from the shoots I've been on. I can't promise anything but I'll see what I have at work.

Re: First photoshoot!
Oh yeah, a partially cloudy day is perfect. Can give you some funky results in post-processing too using Photomatrix. I believe that is what ISU used to create those dark, stormy shots of JTS.
As you can see in one of my shots listed above, I added/enhanced the color in post-processing. Nothing wrong with it, I'd just prefer to get it right out of the camera. And if done correctly (which is not hard), no color will reflect on the model. I did have a couple cases where the model was too close to the backdrop, allowing some color bleed on her from the background light. Easy fix.

Couldn't find any photos from the shoots I've been on. Looking forward to seeing your shots of the corvette. Will the model be washing it in a string bikini and lots and lots of bubbles?
