Any motorcycle people?

Anyone here into motorcycles? I'm thinking about buying something in the next couple of months but I'm torn on what to get. I've had everything from crotch rockets to cruisers. I'm looking for something that sits up a little more than a sport bike but still has a lot of punch. I'll like to spend around $6000 but could go higher (don't want a loan). Here are some of my options.

2004 Triumph Speed Triple-I was set on buying this bike but they sold it over the winter :(

2004 Honda 919

I could get one of these new for around $9,000 OTD

I'd love to have one of these but it's around $12,000 OTD

Lots of good bikes out there but hard to find the good used ones.

BTW-The last 2 bikes are a Triumph Street Triple and a Ducati Hypermotard.

I say we play a game against our second team players. We would have a closer game! I can't wait to see us shove it down ISU's throats! They are going to need some syrup for all the pancakes we will be getting.---lukestylez (Hawkeye Fan)

Re: Any motorcycle people?

I love motorcycles, especially the on/off enduro bikes. Your third picture isn't loading for me but that 4th one is awesome. Who makes it?

Don't think you could go wrong with any of your choices. You ever looked at the Buel bikes which are the sports bikes made by Harley Davidson?

Re: Any motorcycle people?

If you're looking for a naked or more upright bike with good handling and performance I'd check out the FZ1. I've got an '02 that I love, but they redesigned them in 06 and introducted fuel injection. Its essentially an R1 motor in a more back friendly frame.

Also, the Speed Triple is a sweet ride. I'd probably steer clear of the 919. It handles beautifully, but doesn't have the grunt of the triple or the fz1

Ducati's are awesome and seem to appreciate in value as they get older. When the kids get a little older I am hoping to have a Ducati in my garage.

Yeah the FZ1 is also on my short list. I could get an SV650 for cheap but I don't think I'd be satisfied with the power.

Love the V-Max but it seemed very heavy to me when I rode one a few years back. I'll have to test one again.

Re: Any motorcycle people?

I've got a wife and three girls so right now this is my bike. It is for sale because I found another bike I like more which is on the bottom. Street legal dirt bikes rule. By the way, the V45 Magna is for sale and runs good for $1,500.

I totaled a Honda Shadow 700 in high school. Looks a lot like the V45.

Re: Any motorcycle people?

I had a motorcycle a few years ago, but it was taken from me in the form of an un-licensed, un-insured driver who cut a corner too sharply. I'm looking to get another one again this year finally, but have just started looking. I'm thinking sport bike since that's what I had before, but I haven't decided for sure.

Oh... people will come Mr. Pollard. People will most definitely come.

No, I don't live in Seattle anymore, I'm back in Des Moines but I don't feel like changing my username.

Re: Any motorcycle people?

Those V-Max's are awesome looking. Had a friend in high school with one of those and found out they have blowers on them. I found out how big a power curve them bikes have when I got to about 85 mph and hit the throttle and that blower kicked in. How I didn't die right there right then still baffles me to this day.

Re: Any motorcycle people?

I've got a 2002 919 and love it. Honda has introduced the 919's successor in Europe only - the CB1000R. I will upgrade mine when its available in the US.

Get yourself a four cylinder DOHC fuel-injected water-cooled naked.

You might want to visit Wrist Twisters Performance for riders input. They've got a section on the 919 and other bikes.

Drizzle, Drazzle, Drozzle, Drome, Time for this one to come home

It's still not real light, but it's not all plastic like some of the crotch rockets out there. Trust me when I say that even at it's current weight it still has all the power a normal human rider will need. And if you have ever riden one and pushed it into v-boost you know what I mean.
