Re: Smoking Ban Compromise Passes House...on to Senate
Total BS. I'm not a smoker but they went to far. It goes to show once again casinos do run the state. How is it that Casino workers can take the smoke but no other worker can? Have you ever saw the condition of some of the people at Casinos, they are the ones that need to stay away from the smoke and for some of them stop smoking. If they allow it in Casinos they should allow it in over 21 bars and strip clubs. How are they going to inforce this anyway. I want to see them come take my brother out of his tractor as he smokes.
As for the Vets. Lets them smoke they made it so we can live the life we live.

Ohhh hey, I never thought of strip clubs! Now those are smoke free! What a country! They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin 1775 -
Re: Smoking Ban Compromise Passes House...on to Senate
Hmmm I used to care, but I'm 1/2 way to Maryland right now, and their indoor smoking ban went into effect in February, so I'm clear either way Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!!! In Accordance with Prophecy -

We should tax poverty. It is the single most cause of cancer, crime, and disease.

Re: Smoking Ban Compromise Passes House...on to Senate
Wow I just find it utterly ridiculous that a frickin strip club is smoke free. Apparently the free market is bogus and we are too dumb to run our own lives. With the personal freedoms being taken away in our society it will be interesting what else will be taken away in our lifetimes.

The poor dont pay anything now yet they get a rebate on taxes they never paid, yet the so called rich dont get anything back and they paid a lot in. Lets call the rebate what it really is taking from the "rich" and giving to the poor or a gift to the poor. If tax rebates really do stimulate the economy why not just have us pay less taxes so the money can be spent year round.

I mean it is not like they can get a job anywhere, there is only a few places that they can work!

Before you get excited, almost every study you will quote will be based on the asumption that second hand smoke is a carcinogen...a designation that is disputed...which I assume you are all well aware of. If the litmus test of second smoke as a carinogen is applied to other common contributers ( such as lawnmowers, automobiles in garages, gas powered female devices, propane heaters, diaper pales, livestock gas in a barn, etc.) we may be looking a a whole new host of bans.
I respect those that are willing to sacrifice their individual rights to get smoke out of their clothes. I just can't help but scoff at those that hide behind the cloak of the public health as long as there are exceptions.
I respect your opinion. Just be straight forward and educated.
