You're totally right. They really went from Hard Rock/Metal to Pop Rock after Rick Allen lost his arm.

Best album has to be Def Leppard's Pyromania. Even at age 41 if "Pour some sugar on me" comes on I have to crank it up.
    All very similar, except Garth.

I don't listen to radio or watch Music TV, so I don't get exposed to much mainstream music. Which is by design. You don't find much punk or independent music from the mainstream media media.

I'm sure there are others that could easily be on the list...like Hendrix, U2, Velvet Revolver, Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against the Machine...

EDIT: Add Ben Harper, Foo Fighters, 3 Dollar Cover
*&$%*^!!! I forgot Pearl Jam - have no idea why (haven't had coffee this morning). I'd also put smashing pumpkins on my list!

Mutt really went over the top with Def Leppard, but he did sell billions of albums for them, which I guess was his job. I just always have trouble with stuff that is designed from it's inception to appeal to those with no musical knowledge, taste. In other words, the general public.

Re: Name your Top 10 bands, musicians and/or cds....

Wow... interesting mix of musical interests so far. I will throw my own into the fray. BTW, anybody going to Lollapalooza? All 3 headliners make my top 10: NIN, Radiohead and Rage

Favorite Bands and best album from them in no particular order...

    Radiohead (Kid A)
    NIN (Downward Spiral)
    Beatles (Abbey Road)
    The Cure (17 Seconds)
New Order (Low Life or Technique)
    Alice in Chains (self titled)
    Bowie (Ziggy)
Rage Against the Machine (Battle for Los Angelos)
    Pink Floyd (The Wall)
    Nirvana (Nevermind)

For just Top albums I'd add Appetite for Destruction and The Violent Femmes
