Their next-channel-neighbor, TNT, has plenty of HD content. TBS did actually have a baseball game in HD on Sunday, but that's all I've seen.
but... Family Guy is in HD. That is all that I care about

Also, When will Mediacom get Discovery HD in addition to HD Theater!!!

In Cedar Rapids, we get the locals plus ESPN, ESPN2, Comcast Sports and TNT for free in HD with the basic service.
If we can get WGN in HD, I will be in Heaven...

I get discovery HD theater in Cedar Rapids without paying extra for it. I only don't get mojo ud, hd net and hdnet 2

Re: 2 new HD tier channels on Mediacom
I'm still surprised DirecTv doesn't have WGN HD. Anyone know what the heck is up with that? It seems like a logical HD channel to add since they have about 100 others.

I would also be willing to bet you are spending around $60 a month at Mediacom and that may be low. If I counted right you get around 15 HD channels.
Now with Dish Network you can get 27 HD channels for around $60 to $70 a month after the extra receiver fee, HD programming fee and additional charges. DISH Network -- Dish HD
You do the math with the difference in prices and number of HD channels and tell me if you aren't paying for them through Mediacom.

Re: 2 new HD tier channels on Mediacom
well there is no extra charge over regular charges to get HD. The HD box is same amount to lease per month as the digital cable box. I pay $65 per month for family cable, the box, sports pack, starz, and all the taxes and what not.

Re: 2 new HD tier channels on Mediacom
I just noticed that with directv we get ESPN News in HD now... that is pretty nice! When we were with mediacom you used to have to pay 10 dollars per month for the HD channels, they must have switched it!

Re: 2 new HD tier channels on Mediacom
I'm paying $50/month for mediacom digital cable. If a cable channel I receive is also available in HD, I receive that as well.

Re: 2 new HD tier channels on Mediacom
they charge $10 per month for mojo udnet hdnet1 and hdnet 2
I have no interest in paying $10 per month for those channels

Re: 2 new HD tier channels on Mediacom
Yeah, they definitely changed it. You use to have to pay 10 dollars a month for all the what..... 8 channels they had in HD.

First I really don't care if you have cable or what cable company you use because that is your money spent not mine, but to make this real simple:
You may not have the extra charge from Mediacom like Dish, but even with the extra charge that Dish charges to get the HD channels, you will still pay the same if not LESS per month then you would with Mediacom and get almost twice as many HD channels. So basically Mediacom is raping you on the cost of the other channels and you are actually paying more for these then you would with Dish just so they can say there is no additional charge for HD.
Like I said it is your money and you are free to do what you want with it, but I highly recommend a Dish (through either company) as you wouldn't be disappointed. I did it about a year ago so I am fairly new to it still, but I know I will never go back to Mediacom. Also the horror stories you hear about outages, well technology has come a long way and in the last year I haven't had one single outage even with all the snow we had this winter.

I think it all depends on a person's situation. I can get a better deal going through mediacom to get my television and cable than going through a dish and having to get a landline that I would never use to get a package deal for internet. The better deal depends on your situation.

Yeah, also how people say that Quest internet compares to Cable.... well, it really doesn't! I use to have Mediacom tv and internet, we switched to Direct tv, but kept the internet so we are overpaying because were not bundling but I don't think I could stand switching to Quest!
