Supplements

So I've been considering adding some supplements to my training regime. I don't want to bulk up, just would like to use something to help with strengthening and endurance. I've already got the protein covered, I eat a lot a tuna. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Supplements

I have just started taking NO Xplode a few weeks ago. To be honest I am still on the fence with it. I am not so sure the increased stamina (if there actually has been) is worth the money.

Re: Supplements

Cell Tech Hardcore is awesome!!! I love the stuff. It's creatine. It's better than any monohydrate that I've ever used. It helps you reccop faster and doesn't give you the bloated feeling that the monohydrate does.

It comes in a bunch of different flavors. It's mixed with sugar and the body will absorb more of it and in a faster time.

The cheapest places I've found it, internet or store, is Vitamin World and that supplement store on Swanson Blvd in Des Moines.

Re: Supplements

From what I've read and been told by a friend of mine whose a trainer is that the NO products give you a short effect. In other words, it increases the diameter of your blood vessels and transports things faster through the body. It will also give you a harder look for a short amount of time. IN the long run it wasn't worth the money.

I've taken cell tech before and It seems I added a lot of water weight, that wouldn't be a big deal usually but I'm training at Boone MMA this summer and will not want the extra weight.

That's exactly what I did before starting with Cell-Tech. I then went and asked someone I trusted and he confirmed what I found.

Much cheaper than local, bodybuilding.com is a great online store, you get it really fast, they ship same day, and their prices cannot be beat.

Re: Supplements

I just finished a 6 month stint with my trainer. While I am not an expert, I have learned A LOT about lifting and how one's body reacts. If you are wanting to gain muscle mass it is important to:

Eat 5-6 smaller meals a day. This helps the body's metabolism and it won't push out your stomach and give you a belly.

Intake of whey protein is important and you should always have a protein shake with whey protein no more than 30 minutes after a workout.

Cassiene (sp?) is a slow releasing protein that is very important as well. You should take a Casseine protein shake before bed. This way your muscles still have access to protein while you rest.

Also, you should wait a couple of hours to eat AFTER a workout as your body will transfer blood to help you digest your food instead of the blood going to the muscles you work out.

Just a few tips I've learned. Good luck!

I actually got mine from Bodybuilding.com

Most of my stuff has come from there.

It's $50.97 at Nutrisport on Swanson. It's pretty much the same. Just don't waste your time and money at GNC.

Re: Supplements

I have taken Cell Tech, all kinds of Protein, Cell Mass, NO-Xplode, Pump tech, and Thermogain, the best results I have had was from taking Cell Mass.
It's a creatine and i have had some big gains using that.
However, there's one big drawback from using some of these, stuff they don't say on the label or you don't hear often, is a lot of the times they increase your blood pressure.
After being on creatine for a couple of months, my resting blood pressure has risen to about 142/86 on average. Which is well above a normal reading of <120/80.
Upon stopping, my blood pressure has returned to almost baseline.

So, really, in the long run, a lot of supplements aren't worth it.
The best thing you can do and most healthy, is control your diet and bust your a$$ in the weight room.

Re: Supplements

FYI, if you are still wanting to take supplements try this website:
www.supplementwarehouse.com: Atkins Diet, Fat Burner, Vitamin C, Vitamin E
It's the cheapest place on the internet, bc you can take off 5% from any competitors price.
