That's it. Public transportation should be banned as a public health hazard. [/sarcasm]

when I travel to Philly.. you really have to know who has the right of way.... I am a defensive walker.
Who has had the right of way in these accidents?

-keep I believe that the pedestrians always have the right of way within walkways in the state of Iowa, I could be wrong though.

At a crossing where traffic must stop and there is no do not walk sign, they do have the right of way... always.
But the walk/don't start but continue/don't walk signs dictate who has the right of way.

-keep. I guess I always think towns are laid out like my wonderful pedestrian university. I wasn't even considering traffic lights.
You mean if I get hit while walking through an intersection that has a green light, its my fault -

While it may be enlightening to discuss the finer points of the pedestrian right-of-way law, I might suggest that as a practical matter, should the question arise in a pedestrian's mind as to whether that person or an oncoming bus has the right of way, it would be wise for said person to yield the right of way to the moving 20 ton bus. I'm all for standing up for one's rights, but sometimes, you just have to give in...
