My dad is anal about his lawn, and he just put his down last night.
Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'
I put mine down 2 weeks ago along with a little generic fertilizer that was something like 28-2-11 I think to add a little more phosphorus and potash. This morning before the rain would have been perfect probably if you had not already fertilized. My lawn will probably be ready to mow sometime next week as much as it has greened up since the last rain we had.
I checked the temps first part of the week and they were in the low 40's so they haven't been 50 for long. You could put the crabgrass down now because it won't be long now till the seeds start to germinate and/or the roots wake up on the existing crabgrass. Grass will start turning green and grow pretty fast now so fertilize now would be good too.
I would put it down now. If you wait until soil temps get warmer you will miss some crabgrass as it will start germinating. blow it on. I put mine on in Jan (granted i live in NC)
My parents have done that to their friends (and had it done back to them) for years now. Now, they haven't done 3000, but forking someone's yard is hardly a novel concept anymore...
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
