Didn't take long for this thread to change topics.
Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating. -

In my opinion, I think the Bible has been altered...to think it hasn't been is silly to me. Then again, I'm not one for organized religion.

I like the explanation of how the light from stars billions of light years away was somehow created on its way here.

Re: How valid are TV weather forecasts?
This is by far the most accrutate forcast I've used (free).
Plus it breaks down the forcast by hours so you can tell what time tomorrow that it might rain. Welcome to Weather Underground : Weather Underground -

While I am not in the slightest interested in the way this topic has progressed, I will point out that the "earth is flat" myth is just that; a myth.
Early scientists and other educated people have known the world is round since the earliest days of sail and navigation. the "myth" that large amounts of people believed the world was flat was actually made up in the 1700s as a "straw man" to bludgeon political opponents. And it is still being used as such today. -

Re: How valid are TV weather forecasts?
I know that it is hard to predict beyond a couple of days, but having been in the KC area for much of the last year, I would have to say that they do a much worse job with the weather down here than in central Iowa. I would be interested to see this study repeated in other parts of the country to see if results are consistent or if weather is harder to predict in some places than others.

Re: How valid are TV weather forecasts?
Depends. Are you a meteorologist who happens to be on tv or are you someone who went into tv and decided to "do weather"?
-
Re: How valid are TV weather forecasts?
Meteor in the word meteorology signfies they do not have a clue they will hit on the forecast or not. 30% of being accurate.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Re: How valid are TV weather forecasts?
Just as an aside: Jenny Harrison, who does CNN London weather is smoking hot. I couldn't care less if she gets the weather "right" (whatever that means.)
Plus, she has a real woman "shape". None of this "stick people" look for me.
