Most Powerfull Logo in Sports....?
A couple night ago, couldn't get to sleep so I picked up some old Sports Illustrated Mags....
I counted as many as 80 "Nike Swoosh" logos in a single issue, without paying for a advertisment.
What are some of your thoughts on the "Most Powerful Logo in Sports".......
What is it.....?

If we are talking company logos, I agree that Nike is definitely # 1. I think the Yankees logo is very widespread and well known in regards to a specific team.

Just watching Yankees vs White Sox game....Posada, both knees gaurds, chest protecter, shoes just saw 6 swoosh's.....
the thing that is unbelievable is the advertising that does for them without paying a dime on national tv.....

Re: Most Powerfull Logo in Sports....?
I don't know how it works with baseball or football, if the whole team wears a certain brand of equipment. But I know when you turn on CBS on a Sunday and Tiger is wearing 6 swoosh logos, Nike is definitely paying many dimes for that...

Nike is getting a good return on their money if you are noticing all of those swooshes.
In 2007, Nike ranked #60 in most advertising money spent. http://adage.com/images/random/lna2007.pdf
On Page 10 shows #1-100.

the thing that is unbelievable is the advertising that does for them without paying a dime on national tv..... Oh, they pay for them. I would guess Posada gets a pretty penny to sport all that Nike gear. Nike just recently cut back on their endorsements a couple of years ago. They decide to shell out big bucks to a few players instead of good money to a ton now. My brother would get checks from Nike while in AA, where hardly anyone even saw the swoosh he was sporting...

Nike, I'm sure pays a substanial fee. A earlier post suggested they were around #60 in marketing dollars spent, I'm not sure what that includes.....
but I know of no other symbol that in today's sports that is more used, displayed, and reconized more than the swoosh......they are certainly getting a great return on investment.....
to think Bauerman or Knight, and one of their asstiants was credited in developing what was once call a "fat check mark"....nice idea
