Tired of Storm Warnings
Is anyone else tired of storm warnings that channels have? It really drives me nuts when I am trying to watch an hd program and then warning comes up and reduces the picture to standard definition. Is there some place I can email to say you only need to show the warning for about 5 minutes instead of the whole episode? An example is My Name is Earl right now.

Re: Tired of Storm Warnings
yeah i mean the news stations have their priorities all messed up. informing us on things that keep us safe instead of leaving the full screen HD broadcast. the nerve!

Re: Tired of Storm Warnings
I understand warning us but for the whole thirty minutes is really ridiculous. If anything say check out the website for more info. There are other means to show us that a storm is 2 hours away and it might still have enough power to create a thunderstorm by the time it gets the the central iowa viewing area. Plus isnt there city warning systems if the storm is actually dangerous.

Re: Tired of Storm Warnings
alright point taken. i thought you were referring to the 20 second interuptions here and there. yes i have seen them break in and say the same thing over and over for 30 minutes and its unnecessary. its rare but i was annoyed when it happened. that was for a winter storm during nfl playoffs.

Re: Tired of Storm Warnings
We were watching the season finale of a show on CBS and they kept going to the weather desk at commercial and cutting into programing to show severe weather up near Fort Dodge or something. We emailed and b****ed and they said they had to look out for the best interest. No offense, but unless a tornado is headed down my block, I REALLY dont care. I can figure out that it tis thunderstorming out, thanks!

Re: Tired of Storm Warnings
So your bummed out you don't get HD or that it's on the whole time.
Get a flippin life.... If those warning save one life or even prevents someone from getting hurt, then they are doing there job.
I don't care if the storm is only in Carroll Co or whatever. I like to know and be informed. Some people can't simple look on the internet for the weather so they depend on TV.
Yess................... There are people out there without HD and Internet.

Re: Tired of Storm Warnings
WHO ran notices through the entire Knight Rider 2 hour premiere movie a couple of months ago. WHO hasn't figured out how to run scrolls without switching it from HD to SD, but apparently KCCI has. The problem with the scrolls during Knight Rider was that they were only for school closings for the next freaking day. And they continued running the same thing over and over when it probably only took about 3 minutes to run the entire cycle of closings.

Re: Tired of Storm Warnings
Yea I can understand showing radar or warnings for a few minutes during the show. but nbc has been showing the same stuff over and over for the last 45 minutes. I am also sure that people have eyes and can look outside to see. Plus if it is anything deadly the storm warnings will go off in each town.

Re: Tired of Storm Warnings
In the old days these warnings only came up under a severe storm (hail, tornado, etc) or they were very brief.
These days, it seems like they will interrupt a program if it is sprinkling within 500 miles of the viewing area.

This is the problem...they gotta show their "Super Megatastic Doppler" machines as much as possible. There is absolutely no need to break into programming every 5-10 minutes. It's simply not necessary and it's not saving any more lifes than breaking in once an hr and running the ticker on the bottom of the screen.
