I remember hearing about this at the time. Creepy stuff. But you got to wonder how many "Smiley face" graffiti you could find near bodies of water.

When they pulled that kid out of Lake Laverne that was probably one of the weirdest and most somber days ever on ISU's campus.

Wasnt there a kid found in the creek by the US Bank on Lincoln Way & Hayward right by Dogtown?

There was, I don't remember all the details about that one but I think the guy was legally blind and was pretty drunk on top of that. He probably shouldn't have been walking home by himself. It still seems pretty hard to drown in about 5 inches of water but possible.

Wasn't it Abel Bolanos (not sure on spelling) in Lake Laverne? I remember a story in the Ames Trib about how FBI agents or something came to Ames to investigate his death. Weird stuff.
