Ncaa adds 2 new bowls , total now 34

NCAA committee approves 34 football bowl games - NCAA Football - Yahoo! Sports

There are 119 Division 1A football teams, so now more than half of the division 1 teams will go to a bowl......interesting

So you're saying we've got a chance?

Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are even incapable of forming such opinions.

No, what they're saying is the NCAA is trying to guarantee that a 6-6 Iowa team makes it to a bowl next year...

57% of all college football teams will go to a bowl next year. Ridiculous. I wish the NCAA would go back to when the bowl games meant something and they were a reward.

ISU went 8-3 in 1976 and lost to three top ten teams (OU, Neb, OSU) and didn't go to a bowl. If that happened today, ISU would be playing in the cotton bowl.

Some People see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say why not? When I took this job I said why not Iowa State? Why not winning? Why not bowl games? Why not sell outs? Why not national respect? Why not us? Why not here? Why not the cyclone family?

Clearly, the NCAA is not trying to pretend anymore. Instead of presenting themselves as the collegiate student-athlete governing body; they are showing everyone that they are a monopolistic corporation.

The new bowls are:

**** and Span Toilet Bowl
Benzamatic Roto Reuter Bowl

(I did not know that THE FIRST WORD WOULD BE CENSORED.)

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

Sorry, the Big XII Champion has a tie in to a BCS game...

I know, unrealistic, but I can dream.

Sounds like Navy vs. ACC in Washington D.C. and Big East vs. C-USA in St. Petersburg.

Awesome, with so many bowls I can finally hope for the match up I've been dreaming of. Western Illinois Dental College vs. South Philly School for the Deaf. Should be a barn burner.

And I, Bruno, will dive 1,000 feet into a block of cement. On my head, yet!

I just wanna see the South Central Louisiana State University Mud-dogs beat the crap out of Iowa again.

Maybe the Bourbon Bowl.

There should be a limit of 20 bowl games.

Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans…I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care…I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it…let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

Honestly, with the way things are, two more bowls aren't that big of a deal to me. If the schools can pry some more money out of a couple of more corporate sponsors, then good for them.

We just need to use this as a rule of thumb to keep some persepctive...the only bowls that are probably representative of any sort of athletic acheivement are those played on Dec 31 and later. The rest are probably just a money grab and shouldn't be used as evidence when bragging about how good the season was...

The Congressional Bowl? I think the FBI has a new favorite bowl game given the cooks this bowl is named after and the current/future crooks that will be playing in it...
