DHL Shipping is HORRIBLE!

I just wanted to post and advise everyone to NEVER use DHL to ship anything.

I make several gaming wagers online and my courier uses DHL to send me checks. Well, I was expecting a check on Monday, and the tracking claimed that it was delivered. I got home from work, and I didn't see any delivery. I contacted DHL, and they said they would get back to me. They called me the next day, and stated that the driver had delivered the priority envelope and they left it under my doormat. I have no doormat..... My neighbors do.... DHL claimed that that is where the envelope was.

I got home after work, checked under the doormat, and NOTHING! Rang the neighbors door, they had no idea about any delivery. I called back DHL and they said that if it wasn't there they were sorry but it should be. Well no kidding! I then asked them what steps need to be taken to file a claim. They said I would need to contact the sender and they will have to file the claim. Great, I am going to attempt to contact a sportsbook, and have them file a claim for a check I never received!

I then called my sportsbook and they told me I had to file a claim with DHL, otherwise pay a $50 stopcheck fee.

I call DHL, they told me they can do nothing.

So, I beg you, please do not ever use DHL. I wouldn't be surprised if the delivery man pocketed the damn envelope and check. What a nightmare.

I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and pay the $50 re-issue fee.

Re: DHL Shipping is HORRIBLE!

The one time I was shipped something through them it got lost. It was never found. They even had the driver go back out and look around to see if he recognized any houses.
After DHL was no help I called the guy I boought it from. He called them and placed a claim. They still weren't able to get it resolved. Days later I called them again and they wouldn't tell me what was going on because I wasn't involved in it. Huh? I called the guy again and he just shipped me another one, via UPS, and continued to pursue DHL.

I talked to my neighbor about it once. He's a retired military guy who travels the world training personnel for a military contractor. He's in South Korea one week, home for 3 and then off to Puerto Rico for a couple more. Anyway, he was shipped some paperwork from his employer to DHL. It never got there. This was paperwork that he was going to need to get on base and complete his training. His employer ended up overnighting it because DHL never found it.

I will NEVER use them again.

Think if this was a career document or some one's paycheck... Could you imagine the mess!!

I had a lost package through UPS once, and they were very easy to work with, and helped resolve the issue in 24 hours, and overnighted a new package to me for free.

I am putting DHL up there with the worst customer service..

Worst Customer Service
1) Sprint
2) DHL

I use the good old USPS whenever possible. They are the most reliable and fastest shipper for this part of the country.

I try not to use UPS, DHL, or Federal Express. All of the aforementioned rely on contract carriers to ship to off-road Alaska. Even express or overnight shipments can take weeks to arrive since the contract carriers hold parcels until they have enough bulk to make it economically feasible to send them on.

Re: DHL Shipping is HORRIBLE!

My wife and I buy and sell a lot of STUFF on ebay. I purchased some stuff at a good price that i will resell that was delivered by DHL.
I was concerned when it had not arrived in a few days. Most delivery companies are very good about leaving packages at our front door or even inside of our door when we are gone. We live in the country and have two driveways that we can use to get to the blacktop road, one short STEEP road and one longer one that is level.

In the winter time we use the longer one since the snow and ice makes the shorter steeper one slick and trecherous.
I ASSUMED since the package hadn't arrived that the driver would leave it at the post office, as they some times do, but instead the driver left the package at the side of the ROAD where our steep driveway is. I just happened to see it one day while driving by. A friend asked me later about the package and said he saw it setting there for three days. I had paid $150 for the items so I would not have been pleased if they were damaged. I do not, and WOULD not use DHL. I always use UPS when I don't use regular mail.

I once wait 3 hours at Sprint store to have them tell me that my phone didn't have insurance and they couldn't help me. 3 hours for a 2 minute slap in the face. Well Sprint! The jerk-store called, and they are all out of you!

I worked for UPS, so they're always my first option.

I've never had trouble with DHL, though.

I also refuse to use DHL. At my previous employer, we used DHL to ship equipment to our customers. We would frequently overnight the package for a morning delivery. On one particular instance, the tracking information online stated that our overnighted package had been delivered, but when I followed up with the customer, it hadn't been delivered. It ended up being delivered the following afternoon. Needless to say, the customer was not happy.

Re: DHL Shipping is HORRIBLE!

DHL does indeed leave a lot to be desired. A few years ago, on the job we were waiting for some packages. They were 2-3 weeks overdue.

When we finally called DHL, they told us they have been sitting in their office for 2-3 weeks, because they were too large to deliver.
-Problem # 1: They never attempted to contact us about this.

We arranged a straight truck to go pick these up.
-Problem # 2: There were five packages, all of them fit easily into the back of a single regular pickup truck. The largest box was maybe 3'x3'x3' and weighed at most 50 lbs.

Re: DHL Shipping is HORRIBLE!

The company I work for used DHL for a while. They dropped off packages at one of our stores, but would not fully deliver them inside. When the worker refused to sign, the driver got back in his van and backed over the packages.

They are a joke and no one should ever use them

I haven't shipped a lot of stuff through DHL, but I've always had a positive experience with them.
