Pay to speak to an American

Dell Computer has announced a new "premium support service." The plan: For a fee, people get the right to talk to “the same dedicated team each time they have an issue” with a Dell product. The kicker: The service will be provided by “an advanced support team in North America.”

That is funny, but that said, I am sure many will pay for the service. :)

Do any of your 3,223 posts on Cyclonefanatic.com have anything remotely to do with the Cyclones?

No,well, maybe a couple. In sooth, Alaskaguy is a serial news poster. I think the mods should put it as his tag instead of pro.

Re: Pay to speak to an American

There's nothing worse than calling a company's customer service and having someone from India, or some other foreign country, come on the line with their choppy English. I've experienced this with Dell and DirecTV. I just want to say, "can I PLEASE speak with someone I can understand and whom I don't have to repeat myself three or four times?!?!?!"

Dell is way worse than it used to be. I didn't want to believe it, but it seems to be true.

This happens all the time in the computer industry. BEA tried to sell me premium support a few weeks ago because we have horrible problems with their India call centers. The scary thing is we already pay $50k per year for support, and now they want additional to talk to people in the US.

BTW, Dell business support ROCKS! You get right in to a group in Oklahoma City.

I would absolutely pay for this. Nothing more frustrating than speaking with someone from another country, getting pissed, requesting them to transfer you to someone else, and the next person doesn't speak clearly enough to read what is on their cue cards...

Americans are boring. Id rather save my money and speak with "Gary" from India. He makes me laugh.

Re: Pay to speak to an American

I called Dell a few years ago with a problem with a work computer. I could barely understand the first person I spoke with, mostly because of a ton of static on the line. I did hear him say "Oh I see you have Gold Support" or some sort of thing. He sounded relieved. Next thing I know I'm talking to some guy on a clear connection with an american accent.

Whenever my wife is talking a support type on the phone the first question she always asks is "where are you".

You had better clarify before you pay. It would be amusing to pay for the support thinking you will get Gary in Indiana only to end up with Jose from backwater Mexico. Mexico is North America too you know. (I didnt read the dang article but the post says NA)
