Thats terrible. Nature is a mean beast sometimes. 1 million homeless as well. Good grief.

Why is Myanmar keeping our aid out?

You know, things like this just remind you of how fragile life really is. The concept of 22,000 dead is hard to wrap your head around.

Stay calm Charlie Brown.

And I, Bruno, will dive 1,000 feet into a block of cement. On my head, yet!

Information Minister Kyaw Hsan said the military were "doing their best," but analysts said there could be political fallout for military rulers of the former Burma who pride themselves on their ability to cope with any challenge.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

I can't even fathom how a storm could kill that many people... they must live on top of each other.

What is the difference beween a Cyclone and a tornado? a always thought they were pretty much the same storm, but the cyclone looks a lot more devistating.

Cyclone=Hurricane on the other side of the planet.

As far as that many people getting killed, well I'd imagine most didn't even know it was coming. High winds, heavy rain, poorly constructed buildings, etc all played a huge factor. Now throw in no power, no water, no food, and toss in the bodies of the dead and disease is going to start to be an issue. Things are probably going to get worse before they get better over there.
