Honda CRV

I think the honda Element (I own one) is a lot better deal for the money.

Honda's in general are a bit overpriced right now, I think Ford is on the rise (Escape), the Nissan rogue seems like a better deal for the money.

But hey, I'm cheap.

I also owned an Element at one time and liked it a lot. The CRV is a little more comfortable and quicker but the Element has a TON of space and very handy. The biggest fault with the Element is the styling. Either you love it or hate it and I think most people hate it.

Yeah, the element is god awful ugly, I could never get past that.

For those who have a CRV, is the gas mileage as advertised? (24mpg highway)?

I got Holmes to haggle on an odyssey when you could not find them anywhere. Actually Ames had one, so I just started the bidding war, and told them I would pay cash for it whoever came in lower. They both were pretty agressive.

You actually told them you'd pay cash? Man. I never say what I'm going to do until I get a price from them. That way they can think about giving up a little on the price and make it up on the financing. And just call up every dealer that carries the car you're looking at in a 150 mile radius (or more). You'll get a good deal once you have some documented offers from other dealers.

I love how people always throw out the "I'm paying cash" to dealers. Do you think this actually makes them lower the price? Do you realize they get kick backs from the bank every time you finance with them?
