I am curious about the captain. He was built up to be more of a player this season and now he is supposedly dead...or is he? I hope they do something interesting there.

What was up with Claire? She acted like she was on "
claire-ludes", but I have to admit I like it.

I agree. I remember in an earlier episode Micheal passed on a note to Sayid and Desmond saying "Don't trust the captain!", but then he told them about the fake plane and bodies and (supposedly) helped Sayid escape in the Zodiac. He also seemed to be a bad-a$$ himself when he beat up a couple of crew members who were going to help Regina.
I wonder if they killed him off to show the viewers just how evil and formidable Keamy is.

So did ben take the same test as John a a boy and pass? And thats how he eneded up on the island? They mightve tested Ben and then offered his Dad a job when they found out he was special. He also had someone at his birth from the island/Darhma

Vile Vortices (theory - Lostpedia) I also like this theory because it explains how Alpert and crew could mysteriously show up in Miami to recruit Juliet -- the Bermuda Triangle vortex.
Another thing I was thinking is that the Swan station maybe had a purpose after all. Since the vile vortices would conceivably deal with the earth's magnetic field, maybe the giant electromagnet in that station kept the island tethered to one point so that DHARMA could consistently locate it when they needed to. Or maybe resetting the numbers moved the island to a different location based on those vortexes -- wait too long (longer than 108 minutes), and the island begins to become approachable to the outside world.
