I think it is safe to say, that if your country's official form of government is "Military Junta", you are pretty much screwed....

I think it might be time for NATO to step in and take control of the country away from them. It is obvious they don't have the countries best interests in mind, and are only looking out for number 1.

Yikes, another fight brewing. The innocents while starving, sick, and homeless, may now be in for a shelling and gunfire as well. This is going to get ugly.

Freak'n rediculous. Hell we've invaded Iraq... I'd be a lot more ok with helicopters running in supplies and doing rescues without permission...

Maybe send in the Green Berets under cover to do some relief work... win hearts and minds and then a few weeks later this "government" might be over thrown by some citizens that found food and did some group "exercises"...

Ok so I shouldn't generally support stuff like that but seriously this is rediculous

Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!

What would be to stop us from just flying our cargo ships over their airspace and dropping off supplies via parachutes? Sure we would be violating their airspace but what are they going to do about it? We'd be doing the "right" thing.

It's probally mroe of what would be done to our reputation rather than retaliation.

a.k.a. fixing our image after Iraq. Or protecting the people on the ground - with a governement like that they would probally sieze the supplies and/or kill/imprisson anyone caught with them

Could also endanger aid offers from others.

Hence we need to bring in the special forces and do it covertly
Partially kidding

You're probably right - it would be spun somehow into an anti-US thing even though we'd be doing humanitarian good.

Goes along with the "World Police" image - taking unilateral action and not respecting the soverienty of other nations.

I support telling that government to **** off, but it'd be better if the UN did it, and they won't. If we do it outright, it'd probally get some mixed feelings, which sucks because this IS the right thing to do, but we're not in good standing in the world right now...

I think it might be rather ugly if NATO did that. Did you mean the UN?

Nope I meant NATO. And of course it would get ugly, but it isn't exactly looking that great over there now as it is.

The problem with food drops is the chaos as people try to get their share of the food. You'd almost have to have a way to distribute it.

Well if we did drop food, let hope their current forces wouldnt poison it or shoot anyone they found with the aid. I dont know how volatile this group is, but I hope there wouldnt be any retaliation.

This won't end well. The government won't suffer, the people will.
