Leave it to the accountant to bring this up....but I'm waiting for the gov't to recognize the overpopulation and limit the amount of dependants you are allowed to claim with respect to taxes....

WHY. WHY would you do that? I mean I know a family that tried to spell GRACE with their children's names, and that was cool but... going for all J's? With 18 or more kids? Thats just kind of obnoxious...
18 is a bit much. No I don't know how the kids are treated but you know I have a couple of uncles with 6 kids each and they struggle at times to keep everything straight and keep the kids involved in different things that they are interested in and all that good stuff... I can't imagine what 18 would be like.
So maybe the kids aren't physically abused but you are certainly taking away their life at some point. Think they can afford to send 18 kids to college? Or enroll them in little league baseball? Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts? Send them to summer camp? Do they have the time for that?
To each their own but I certainly don't plan to have that many 0_o (Yeah God can always change that but... I think I'll ask God if he wants me to have 18 kids before I stop buying the Trojans...)
(no I'm not married or trying to have kids right now... just my thoughts on what I'd do there)

As long as they aren't living off of the government then I don't have a problem with it. I think it's wacko but as long as they aren't spending any of my money I don't care. Granted, they get many tax advantages due to the size of their herd but that's a drop in the bucket and every one of us takes every tax advandage we can.
I'm not sure why people seem so upset about this? The family seems happy. I've met parents who have only 1 or 2 kids who should not have that many.
Maybe it's my upbringing in Catholic North East Iowa, but as a kid I knew a lot of people with big families. For the most part they were all happy, well behaved and turned into good citizens. Yes the older siblings had to be more responsible and help out with the younger ones, but it seemed to make the familes closer and maybe more healthy emotionally.
From an economic standpoint, it makes no sense. However there's more to life than money, and I think we sometimes forget about that in our over materialistic society.
I'm done at 3 kids, but I'm not going to condem anybody for having more.
