Has anyone tried giving a spa treatment as a gift for Mother's day? Seems like a lot of $$$ for an hour.

I've done that before for my wife. She enjoyed it but, yes, it can be pricey.

Re: Mother's Day gift ideas

To those of you with the "wonderfully original" clothing ideas, just wait until Father's Day.

For the truly serious, how about a promise of an afternoon or day with no responsibilities? Or say, "whatever you want to do or want me to do, just say the word."

Frames for pictures made by the kids, a new purse, outdoor planter and hardy plants to go in it?

Does she golf? GC for shoes, new club, gloves, or lessons from the cute guy at the course?

My wife likes her ice-cream, so I went with an ice-cream maker. Any advice from the ladies as to whether this falls into the dreaded "appliance" category or not?

Regarding the dreaded "appliance" category:

Not if you actually do the making of the ice cream.

It's motorized, so I can probably buck up and make the first few batches.....

Re: Mother's Day gift ideas

Just be sure to choose a flavor she likes.
Ice cream drinks are nice, too.

Re: Mother's Day gift ideas

The only ice-cream drinks I know involved adult beverages and she is due in two weeks. I guess I'd better look up some alternatives before Sunday!

Re: Mother's Day gift ideas

Perhaps you can use the adult beverage version!
My baby is 25, married and living in another state, but I do remember the final days before she arrived. I also remember really wishing for an adult beverage around then!

This is an awesome idea! Especially if you stock up on her favorite toppings, especially if she'll be busy soon with an infant.

I got plants for everyone's gardens this year, but they really enjoy gardening.

Re: Mother's Day gift ideas

Good to hear. I'm pretty hit or miss with these things. Last year I thought I had the best gift idea in the world and she didn't seem to be too thrilled with it.
