Iowa Immigration Raid

Anyone see this? I am in Chicago, so I don't know if it was big news over there.

Update: Up to 700 arrests estimated in Postville raid | DesMoinesRegister.com | The Des Moines Register

Re: Iowa Immigration Raid

It's in process. A little has been on the radio and on a couple of TV news websites. It will be big on the evening news.

Re: Iowa Immigration Raid

If all they do is arrest some mexicans, then I'll be annoyed. If they arrest the guy who hired them and he'll be forced to look at real jail time, then I'll be happy.

Re: Iowa Immigration Raid

It would be nice if it was easier to get into this country legally. Then maybe we wouldn't spend all this time and money on these raids.

I agree entirely. Yes, these illegals should be busted, but so should the person/company who hires them. If nobody would hire them, then they wouldn't come here. Besides, those jobs could be filled tomorrow with 600 new illegals if there are no consequences for the employer.

I'm sure all these people were paying taxes and now they probably have put a town out of business.

Yup. Adding a few consequences to the labor laws that are in place (e.g. wage and hour requirements) and just enforcing those will do a lot more than arresting a bunch of immigrants. That approach is being proven already in Arizona. I can't really blame an individual who needs money for taking whatever honest work they can to get it.

No excuse for breaking the law.

If they aren't breaking any laws beside being here illegally, I think the money could be better spent...

Which is a better use of resources? Busting someone for illegaly working when they are otherwise being a productive member of society, or breaking up organized crime rings (drugs) or looking for murders/rapist ect? aka people who are not productive members of society?

Take care of the worst first then work your way down

Either can I. While I don't think people should come here illegally, I think a lot of the blame (and consequences) should be placed on the companies that hire them.

Why? Because they are breaking the law. Because many of them will have stolen SSN numbers. Because while they may pay some taxes now, they end up costing us more money in the end because of their refusal to assimilate in any way other than to cash a check... then send that money back home. If they're legal--good, great, love it. If not--they need to go.

Ya, why should we go after the low life trash that work their butts off yet pay ZERO taxes yet benefit the most out of all of Hillary & Co's welfare crap at my expense. Why go after the ones who are responsible for a good share of thefts and assaults and yet walk away without consequence because they will just move to the next small town since there is no way to track them down.

I used to work in a town that was infested by all these illegals and seen some of their handy work first hand so I have no time for the illegal mexicans. Go into the local post office and see all the Mexicans sending their weekly paycheck they earned down to their families still down in Mexico so the money isn't even spent locally, or nationally in America.

We have also had friends who are legitimate immigrants with all the right paperwork and they get crap because most of us associate them with the trash.

I also agree that the authorities should bust *** on the people who hire these illegals and get rich while hiring these people who do it for cheap.

Where's Rambo when you need him???
