Never been to Pancheros in my life. I would think it would taste the same either way however.

You just brought up a topic that is a sore subject: 12 years of school lunches, and 26 years of military service, and it STILL ticks me off when servers slop my food together on the plate/tray.
If I wanted my vegetables mixed with my entree, I would've asked for it that way....

Panchero's hasn't been the same since they went "chain." The old school El Gordo 2 lb burrito was my favorite. I once ate two in one sitting on a dare. That was not a good feeling. 4 lbs of burrito sitting in your gut.

Qdoba is way better than Pancheros; too bad there's not one in Ames.

If I wanted my vegetables mixed with my entree, I would've asked for it that way.... Yep, just like people have different blood types (such as O type need to eat oprotein), some peopple do not like to mix food and some do. The buffet people probably like blended burritos.
I would suggest to tell the newbie burrito maker not to blend the ingredients. He might damage the beans. I would also register a complalint to pancheros that they need to ask each scutomer if they want it mixed or not. At least at BK, they always say have it your way...

[quote=Psyclone;470238]Time to vent about something really important.
Pancheros is/was my favorite place for lunch. I was one of their best customers. But then somebody got the bright idea to mix all the ingredients together on the burritos. What a horrible idea. Burrito in a blender.

I used to love Pancheros in Ames back in the 90s when it was where Mickey's is now. They used to put all the meats right on the grill fresh while they made your burrito. They would also put the entire tortilla on the grill and seal the thing up with heat. They were very good. They also had that homemade hot sauce that was light green in color and sort of watery looking, But man was it good and hot.
I went to one of the new Pancheros and I was extremely diappointed. Chipotle and Qdoba are much better places to get a burrito. I think Qdoba tastes better but Chipotle tends to have beer.

I like the mixed burrito it makes it so I don't get one bite of Rice and beans and then a bite of meat. But it isn't going to matter as soon as Chipolte opens in Valley West Mall, they will have all of my burrito business.

Best place to get burritoes are those Mexican-run places, imo. Northwest Boulevard in Chicago is a great place to get an awesome burrito.
I am also fond of "Angel's" in Des Moines, provided it didn't get torn down when they redid I-235. I never saw another Anglo in the place, except for the four of us who would eat there.

That place was PACKED after the bars closed. Since it franchised, they aren't the same. I remember eating just one El Gordo and that was almost too much for me. Just a nasty feeling of being hungover with a gut full of burrito. Either way, once I heard that they were based out of IC and run by hawk fans, that was enough for me. There are plenty of other places to eat.
