What was Pancheros thinking?
Time to vent about something really important.
Pancheros is/was my favorite place for lunch. I was one of their best customers. But then somebody got the bright idea to mix all the ingredients together on the burritos. What a horrible idea. Burrito in a blender.
First it slows the line down while they do the mixing. Second, you can ask them not to mix the ingredients, but you have to get to them before they stack the ingredients on. And the way they have multiple people build them, it becomes a pain. You also need to be quick, before they clump all the guacamole in one heap.
And now with the frequent turnover of help in that business, you have people that don't know how to build a non-mixed burrito. My last two trips the guy had to get real time instructions from manager and still didn't get it right.
It's always a sad day when you lose something you love. I'm just about to the point to write them off and head down one more block to frequent Hot Harry's.
Does anybody else hate this blended burrito? And if you like it blended, do you get it with guacamole?

Re: What was Pancheros thinking?
I have a solution: Flying Burrito*. *assuming you are in Ames -
Re: What was Pancheros thinking?
I saw a Flying Burrito in a trip down south. I guess I figured they were a chain restaurant, but I haven't ever seen one outside of Ames.

Re: What was Pancheros thinking?
I was wondering about the mix. At one location they mixed it and one they didn't and it might have depended on who was making it. (these were the Urbandale and Ames locations).

Re: What was Pancheros thinking?
Are they a chain or just the same name? I was under the impression that the FB in Ames was standalone.

Re: What was Pancheros thinking?
I think it tastes the same blended or not blended... I guess I do not see the big problem, it is just a big ball of goop anyway.

Re: What was Pancheros thinking?
I don't know Pancheros from anything, but in my burritos, I want the meat, beans, cheese and veggies layered, so I get the different flavors separately, but together, if you know what I mean.
But in the really el cheapo frozenn microwaveable burritos, meh... Who cares?

Re: What was Pancheros thinking?
First of all, I've heard Pancheros is owned by a Hawkeye fan so don't expect too much. Second, I heard an advertisement about the "mixing" the other day, I think they're doing it to compete with Chipotle. The advertisement was basically someone complaining about "one bite is all beans, the next bite is all rice, and I'm a big loser". Third, Qdoba is better.

Re: What was Pancheros thinking?
I hate Pancheros, especially their commercials. They over charge for what they are selling, they don't make burritos as big as Flying Burrito, they mix their burrito (YUCK!!!) and now I hear they are owned by a Hawkeye fan.... that's the last straw, I am never going there again.
Going there is just a huge disappointment.
"I think that people are responding to someone standing up and saying this is what we want to do and let's not be afraid to go for it,'' Pollard said. "I think Iowa State has a very conservative, modest background. We never pound our chest and say `Let's do it.' It's OK to set a goal. You can't do it if you don't say what you want to do. You should be proud of it.''

Re: What was Pancheros thinking?
I thoroughly enjoy the mixing of the burritos. My main concern is as ISUGCS mentioned, they seem to be shrinking. By contract, Flying Burritos have remained the same ridiculously large size which is very much to my liking. The ultimate for me would be if Flying Burrito would mix their monsters.

I'll take El Ray any day over Pancheros...
